!"#$%&#'( 8)11)21 Tarleton State Bass Fishing Club Constitution and Bylaws MISSION STATEMENT The Tarleton State University Bass Club is committed to uniting students through the common bond of fishing by developing character, promoting sportsmanship, encouraging stewardship of natural resources, and strengthening institutional spirit. ANTI-HAZING CLAUSE The Tarleton State Bass Fishing Club will not participate in any act that endangers the mental or physical health or safety of a student, or that destroys or removes public or private property; and/or assisting, directing, or in any way causing others to participate in degrading behavior and/or behavior that causes ridicule, humiliation, or embarrassment; and/or engaging in conduct which tends to bring the reputation of the organization, group, or University into disrepute for the purpose of initiation, admission into, affiliation with, or as a condition for continued membership in a group or organization; or as part of any activity of a recognized student organization, student group, and university program. NON-DISCRIMINATION CLAUSE The Tarleton State Bass Fishing Club, in accordance with applicable federal and state law, prohibits discrimination, including harassment, on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, sex, disability, age, sexual orientation, or veteran status. EXISTING SPONSORSHIPS If a member joins the club with existing sponsorships, they are allowed to represent those sponsors on their Tarleton Bass Club jersey. These members will be responsible for ordering their own jerseys and the TBFC will not collect money or order them a jersey. GIVING BACK CLAUSE In the event a member receives financial assistance from the TBFC wins a cash prize, they shall give back the total amount of assistance received. This ensures that more members receive assistance throughout the year. !"#$%&#'( 8)11)21 ARTICLE I NAME & PURPOSE OF THE ORGANIZATION SECTION ONE A. The name of the organization shall be Tarleton State Bass Fishing Club hereinafter referred to as the TBFC. B. This organization will be an affiliated member of the Association of Collegiate Anglers (ACA), Fishing League Worldwide (FLW), and College BASS. SECTION TWO The purpose of this organization is to: A. Unite men and women through the common bond of fishing. B. Educate anglers and develop angling skills (emphasis on bass fishing). C. Strengthen student camaraderie/institutional esprit-de-corps. D. Promote sportsmanship through athletic competition and fellowship. E. Encourage good stewardship of our natural resources. F. Work for justice through community service. ARTICLE II ADMISSION AND MEMBERSHIP SECTION ONE ADMISSION Early applications for the fall semester of each year will be accepted from Jan. 1 - April 30 and final decisions will be announced to each individual by May 15. General applications will be accepted from May 10 - August 10 and final decisions will be announced to each individual by August 20. The application is listed on the Tarleton State Bass Club webpage. Complete the application AND attach you fishing resume for review. Applications are considered incomplete until a resume has been submitted. Complete sentences and proper grammar are expected when completing the application. SECTION TWO MEMBERSHIP Students are considered members at the time their yearly dues are paid. Members: !"#$%&#'( 8)11)21 A. Are eligible and encouraged to participate in B.A.S.S., FLW, ACA (Boat U.S.), and Tarleton Bass Club sanctioned tournaments B. Receive all sponsorship benefits available to the TSU Bass Club C. Are expected to strictly adhere to the guidelines in Article III D. Are eligible to purchase a team jersey E. Are given voting privileges MAINTAINING MEMBERSHIP Members who fail to adhere to all of the guidelines in Article III will be placed on probation. A notice will be sent to any member who has been placed on probation. This notice will be sent to the email account they provided at the time they paid their dues. The member will reply to the email within 24 hours to acknowledge they have received the notice of their probationary status. If a member violates any of the guidelines in Article III while on probation, their membership will be voted for termination (more details in Article XII). Members on probation will be taken off at the beginning of the next semester. Members on probation: A. Are eligible and encouraged to participate in B.A.S.S., FLW, ACA (Boat U.S.), and Tarleton Bass Club sanctioned tournaments B. May receive some, but not all sponsorship benefits C. Are expected to strictly adhere to the guidelines in Article III D. Are not eligible to purchase a team jersey E. Are not given voting privileges ARTICLE III MEMBER EXPECTATIONS Goals of Member Expectations: A. Establish an understanding of the time commitment involved in membership B. Encourage members to participate in club events (including tournaments) C. Encourage members to contribute to the advancement of the club D. Elevate members of TSU Bass Club to their highest potential Members are expected to be in good standing with Tarleton State University, maintain above a 2.0 GPA, and be considered a full-time student. Members are expected to comply with requirements set forth by all tournament trail organizations in order to compete. PAYMENT OF DUES Members are expected to pay their dues within one month of their acceptance into the TSU Bass Club. Dues are $70 and are good for one calendar year, beginning on the first class day of each fall semester. If dues are not paid within one week, the member will be placed on probation. The member will be taken off probation at the time his/her dues are paid. !"#$%&#'(8)11)21 MEETING ATTENDANCE Members are expected to attend all meetings. The only exception will be members who inform the president at least 24 hours before the meeting is called into session of the reason they will not be attending. If a member does not attend a meeting, they will be placed on probation immediately following that meeting. COMPETITION Members are expected to compete in B.A.S.S., FLW, and ACA (Boat U.S.) sanctioned tournaments. Members will represent TSU Bass Club in at least one of these tournaments per semester. This does not include club tournaments. If a member does not compete in one SOY event, they will be placed on probation at the start of the following semester. FUNDRAISING Members are required to participate in every fundraising event held by the club. The officers are expected to make the threshold for participation known through a reasonable avenue of communication prior to an event. If a member does not participate in a fundraising event, they will be placed on probation immediately following. ARTICLE IV TBFC COLLEGIATE TOURNAMENT TEAM (Club Sport) A. TBFC will send teams that will represent the college/university at local, state, and national tournaments. B. Student athletes will make up 2-person teams that represent the college/university at regional and national tournaments. C. Choice of championship berths will be granted by overall point standings at the time of the championship registration deadline. D. Student athletes must be in good academic and disciplinary standing consistent with Article III and Tarleton State University student athlete standards. E. There is no limit to the number of teams TBFC can send to each tournament unless stated by the hosting organization. ARTICLE V TBFC OFFICERS SECTION ONE The business management and affairs of the club will be under the direction and control of the TBFC advisor, and its officers. A. Officers of the TBFC shall be: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Tournament Director. B. Officers will be elected at the first fall meeting of each year and assume their positions immediately!" !"#$%&#'( 8)11)21 " C. Election quorum will be by majority vote of members present at the meeting (All officers and 60% of TBFC membership must be present). Only votes from members of the previous year will be counted at the first meeting of each year. D. All TBFC officers will serve terms of one (1) year. Officers may be elected for consecutive terms in the same position. E. TBFC members in good standing are eligible to hold office. F. Officers may be removed from office with a ⅔ majority member vote, with at least 60% of members and all officers present. The vote of the officer in question doesn’t count. G. At least one (1) officer is required to attend every Club Sports meeting. !"#$%&'( $)&( ! Responsibilities of TBFC Officers: President shall: a) Actively pursue the development and enhancement of the TBFC by seeking opportunities for fellowship and community involvement. b) Set goals for the season and create action items that will facilitate the attainment of those goals. c) Direct all official business concerns to the TBFC advisor for appropriate action. d) Preside over all TBFC meetings unless a presiding officer is appointed. e) Schedule meetings if there is a conflict and call special meetings as needed. f) Assure adequate supervision of all TBFC sponsored events. g) Acquire knowledge of parliamentary procedures for purposes of running efficient meetings. h) Distributes club related information to the membership in a professional and timely manner. i) Update the club’s IM League profile annually. j) Update the club’s TexanSynch profile annually. k) Direct other officers and members to accomplish their goals. l) Assist the Treasurer in keeping up with TBFC expenses by collecting receipts from anglers. Vice President shall: a) Perform all duties assigned to him by the President and train for the club Presidency. b) Preside over meetings in the absence of the President. c) In the event that the President’s office becomes vacant, shall assume the President’s responsibilities until a special election can be held. d) Assist the Tournament Director when needed and serve in his place when TD is absent.
