Audi Celebrates Fourth Victory in 24 Hours of Spa
Audi MediaInfo Communications Audi Sport customer racing Eva-Maria Becker Tel: +49 841 89-33922 E -mail: [email protected] www.audi -mediacenter.com/en Audi celebrates fourth victory in 24 Hours of Spa • Audi Sport Team Saintéloc wins iconic race in Belgium for the first time • Maiden victory for Jules Gounon/Christopher Haase, second one for Markus Winkelhock • Second 24-hour success by Audi Sport customer racing following its Nürburgring triumph Spa/Neuburg, July 30, 2017 – In one of the most thrilling editions of the 24 Hours of Spa, Audi has clinched its fourth victory in the world’s biggest GT3 endurance race. After 3,824 kilometers, Jules Gounon/Christopher Haase/Markus Winkelhock had a winning advantage of 11.862 seconds. In a very balanced competition, four marques were battling for victory up until the end and ultimately claimed the top four positions. Audi Sport Team Saintéloc in its first factory-backed commitment with Audi Sport customer racing shone with a convincing performance. In the world’s toughest GT3 race, the number 25 Audi R8 LMS ran impeccably, its drivers having stayed clear of all trouble and ending the race without any sporting penalties. In the penultimate hour of the race, Christopher Haase chased leader Raffaele Marciello over several laps until the Italian pitted. Following his own final service and the stops of his rivals, the 29-year-old Audi Sport campaigner took the lead and went on to celebrate his first victory at Spa. For Jules Gounon from the South of France, this success marked the first one he has clinched in this race and together with Audi as well. -
Audi R8 LMS Wins Again at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife
Communications Motorsport Jürgen Pippig Eva-Maria Veith Telephone: +49 (0)841 89 34200 Telephone: +49 (0)841 89 33922 E-Mail: [email protected] E-Mail: [email protected] www.audi-motorsport.info Audi R8 LMS wins again at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife • Phoenix Racing wins the GT3 class in the 24h race • No luck during the race in fight for overall victory • Only two of the seven Audi R8 LMS on the grid make the finish Ingolstadt/Nürburg, May 16, 2010 – The Audi R8 LMS remains as best in class in the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife: Also during its second outing in the “green hell”, the world's longest and toughest race track, the mid-engine sportscar crossed the finish line as winner of the GT3 class (SP9). With third place overall in Phoenix Racing's Audi LMS R8 Marc Bronzel (Siek), Luca Ludwig (Roisdorf), Dennis Rostek (Porta Westfalica) and Markus Winkelhock (Berglen) presented the team with an unexpected surprise since this quartet did not even number among the favorites before the race started. The conservative and mechanically easy going driving style of the Phoenix squad, however, paid dividends: The Audi R8 LMS with start number 97 ran – apart from a small electronical problem during the opening stages – with the smallest technical problem. Of particular note was the performance of DTM driver Markus Winkelhock, who, after only landing a drive in the Phoenix team at the last moment, drove constantly fast lap times without any experience of the Nordschleife and in the closing stages convincingly defended the class lead. -

Porsche 919 Hybrid English.Indd
Porsche 919 Hybrid Return to top-level sport Porsche is making its comeback to the top-level motorsport arena: with the new 919 Hybrid the sports car brand is sending a platform for pioneering technology to the top category of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) with the undisputed seasonal highlight of the 24-hour Le Mans race. Porsche's reputation precedes it at this venue: with 16 overall victories under its belt, the brand holds the record for this, the most famous endurance race in the world. In 2014 Porsche is returning to the top-level class endurance race after a 16-year absence - namely Le Mans Prototypes (LMP1). Matthias Müller, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG explains: "The new and revolutionary efficiency regulations for this class were what prompted us to take this step. In 2014 it is not going to be the fastest contender who is going to win the sports car world championship and Le Mans, but the car that gets furthest with the defined amount of energy. And it is precisely this challenge that the automotive industry has to face. The 919 Hybrid is like a high speed research laboratory and the most complex racing car Porsche has ever built." The new WEC regulations for the LMP1 racing car gives engineers an unusual amount of leeway and demands pioneering technology, such as hybridisation, downsizing engines and consistent lightweight construction. This is all particularly relevant for the development of future generations of factory-spec sports cars. Maximum sporting performance and highest efficiency are at the heart of "Porsche Intelligent Performance". -
70Th Victory for Team ABT Sportsline in the DTM
ABT Sportsline 2021 – Press Release Week 33 70th victory for Team ABT Sportsline in the DTM Kelvin van der Linde has given Team ABT Sportsline its 70th victory in the DTM. Following his victories at Monza and Zolder, the championship leader also won Saturday’s race at the Nürburgring. After the first half of the season, the South African, who lives near Kempten, has a 33-point lead in the drivers’ championship. In the teams’ championship, ABT Sportsline is also at the top of the table after the first half of the 2021 DTM season. Saturday was a picture-perfect day for ABT Sportsline: Kelvin van der Linde secured pole position for the third time this season with a perfect qualifying lap and then celebrated a commanding victory. On the way, he only had to shake twice when late stoppers Timo Glock and Alex Albon put up a massive fight against the ABT driver. The South African stayed cool, grabbed the two opponents and, after crossing the finish line, ordered an ice cream from SAT.1 commentator Eddy Mielke, which was promptly served to him by colleague Andrea Kaiser at the podium ceremony. Walter Kolb accepted the trophy for the winning team. The 73-year-old pensioner from Isny had auctioned a seat at the pit stand of ABT Sportsline for the race at the Nürburgring by donating 6,000 Euros for the victims of the flood disaster in the region. The DTM was the first race event after the flood at the Nürburgring. Before the start of the race, children affected by the flood had visited the ABT Sportsline pit and were even allowed to hold the steering wheel of the eventual winning car in their hands before the race.
