Page No. 8 Editorial Quality and professionalism in higher education while nurturing the innate skills of students has been the purpose of Sahyadri Educational Institutions since it came into existence. In its endeavour towards excellence, Sahyadri is supported by its Staff which is committed, driven and focused on stimulating and sustaining a relentless march forward. The organization has set notable milestones in the technical field through the establishment of a Research Centre approved by the Government of Karnataka, an Incubation Centre, and Placement and Training Centre supported by the VTU and the industry sector. A Centre of Excellence and Innovation Laboratory has also been set up in collaboration with IIIT, Allahabad. Research and quality education is given a boost through the continued collaboration with international universities like Ghent University, Belgium, and University of Pardubice. Periodic visits by dignitaries from the fields of education, industry, sports, and governance facilitate an interactive knowledge exchange which provides an impetus to the growth of the Organization. Sahyadri Institutions believe in the holistic development of its students. It not only trains them academically but also helps them keep abreast of developments in their fields and beyond by organizing seminars, workshops, competitions, etc. Equal importance is given to physical fitness through encouragement of sports and the unit of Karnataka State Cricket Academy of Mangalore zone has been set up in the campus to underscore this objective. Our institute has created history through a hat- trick win by the athletic team in the 15th VTU Level Athletic Meet held at SIT, Tumkur. Sahyadri, with the dynamic and visionary leadership of Sri Manjunath Bhandary, well qualified faculty, ambitious and enthusiastic student body, and a committed placement centre continues its journey towards excellence and is all set to become a premium educational institution. The current issue of the newsletter showcases the outstanding achievements and activities of the Sahyadri family. The institute welcomes feedback and suggestions from readers. Various topics related to technical education were discussed. 66th Independence Day of India The 66th anniversary of our Independence Day was celebrated with joy and pride by the staff and students of the Sahyadri Institutions. Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Sahyadri Institutions, hoisted the national flag. Mr. Bhandary, in his address, recalled Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's famous “Tryst with Destiny” speech. He spoke about the aspirations in every Indian and hoped that India continues to develop in leaps and bounds. A cultural programme was organized by the students, faculty members, and the staff. They discussed the present political, social and economical scenario in India and international arena.
