2019-20 GAME NOTES VS FLORIDA ATLANTIC @FGCU_MBB | DID YOU KNOW? • FGCU has won a combined 78 conference regular season and tournament titles IN ONLY 12+ YEARS in Division I as a member of the ASUN Conference & Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (women’s swimming & diving) • In just 8+ YEARS of D-I postseason eligibility, FGCU has sent 25 TEAMS to the NCAA Tournament, while men’s golf (2012, 2013, 2015), swimming (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016) and men’s tennis (2014) have had an individual(s) participate in their respective NCAA Championship, bringing THE TOTAL NCAA APPEARANCES FOR FGCU TO 36. • FGCU has witnessed seven programs earn NCAA Tournament victories in their D1 eras: Baseball (2017), Men’s Basketball (2013/2016), Women’s Basketball (2015/2018), Men’s Soccer (2016), Women’s Soccer (2015), Softball (2012), Volleyball (2018) and Swimming & Diving having at least one NCAA Championships qualifier the past seven years (2012-2018). • FGCU claimed its fourth ASUN ALL-SPORTS TROPHY in five years in 2016-17 and posted a record 6TH-PLACE FINISH in the D1-AAA Learfield Director’s Cup. • In 2018-19, FGCU student-athletes hailed from31 STATES & 31 COUNTRIES & ALL SIX HABITABLE CONTINENTS. • The Eagles had SEVEN STUDENT-ATHLETES SIGN PROFESSIONAL CONTRACTS IN 2016, including Whitney Knight (WNBA, Los Angeles Sparks), CHRIS SALE Rodrigo Saravia (MLS, Columbus Crew SC), Aaron Guillen (MLS, FC Dallas) and Jake • 2010 Collegiate Baseball Noll (MLB, Washington Nationals). Player of the Year • FGCU has produced FIVE MLB PLAYERS: Chris Sale (Boston Red Sox • 13th overall pick in the (current/ Chicago White Sox), Richard Bleier (Baltimore Orioles, (current)/ New York 2010 MLB Draft Yankees, Jacob Barnes (Milwaukee Brewers, current) and Casey Coleman (Chicago • 7x American League All-Star Cubs/Kansas City Royals) and Jake Noll (Washington Nationals). • 2013 All-Star Game-Winning • FGCU’s student-athlete population earned a RECORD TERM GPA OF 3.35 Pitcher; 2016, 2017, 2018 for the Spring 2018 semester, while they have surpassed that of the overall FGCU Starting Pitcher student body (2.99) for 20-consecutive semesters. • Seven programs have earned a top-25 national ranking in their respective sports, and FGCU has also produced 10 ALL-AMERICANS in the Division I era. • In 2014-15, FGCU WON NINE CHAMPIONSHIPS, and behind an All-American relay team the swimming team FINISHED 26TH IN THE NATION at the NCAA Championships. • In 2013-14, a pair of ALL-AMERICAN SWIMMERS (Emma Svensson and Kira Toussaint) helped FGCU finish 32nd in the nation at the NCAA Championship. Men’s tennis junior Jordi Vives represented FGCU at the NCAA Championship for the FIRST TIME IN PROGRAM HISTORY and reached the Round of 32. • The FGCU men’s basketball team became the ONLY NO. 15 SEED IN NCAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY to advance to the SWEET SIXTEEN. Dunk City became the Cinderella of the 2013 dance, as the high-flying Eagles defeated No. 2 seed Georgetown and No. 7 seed San Diego State.
