Akwi Nji is a writer and performance artist awarded the Artist Fellowship. Landfall Festival of World Music will bring acclaimed musicians from over a dozen different countries to Cedar Rapids for concerts and workshops. The German American Heritage Center will bring to life the impact of German- speaking immigrants on the Hollywood film industry through the exhibition 100 Years of Hollywood: The Laemmle Effect and accompanying programs. Hot Glass will serve veterans with Celebrating Service: Creating with Fire, a glass blowing program that encourages veterans to heal physically, emotionally and socially after military service. Urban Exposure will be a film program that covers the fundamentals & creative aspects of filmmaking, writing, cinematography, directing, & editing for underserved youth in Davenport. The Figge will present an exhibition and supporting educational programming by Cedar Falls artist Gary Kelley centered on children's book illustrations. The Quad City Symphony Orchestra will present the Joined by a River Masterworks season which will feature water-themed symphonic works to encourage audiences to reflect on the Mississippi river's imact on community. Putnam Museum and Science Center will receive funding to support the operating expenses of the organization. Figge Art Museum will receive funding to support the operating expenses of the organization. Quad City Symphony Orchestra will receive funding to support the operating expenses of the organization. Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum will receive funding to support the operating expenses of the organization. Chris Ford will present the 100 Songs Project which engage the public by using listener provided prompts to create new songs and visual artwork. The Des Moines Social Club will present the inaugural Des Moines Jazz Festival, a one-day event that will include clinics, workshops and performances of jazz at various venues in Des Moines. MOMENTUM: Works of Recovery and Growth will be an art exhibition that honors the talent of artists with disabilities living in Central Iowa. The 2016 Music University Conferenc will bring together experts from the music industry, working Iowa musicians and music business owners to empower Iowa artists. Rachel Buse will create temporary, site-specific sculptures in local businesses to engage the public with the artistic process. City Voices will offer Summer Music Academy Part II, a music enrichment program to Des Moines Area youth. Molly Wood will present Toxic Botanicals, a photography exhibit and related speaker series that explores the history of the feminine relationship to botanicals. Brent Holland is a visual artist awarded the Artist Fellowship. The Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards, created by Des Moines Performing Arts, celebrates the musical theater achievements of schools and students across the state of Iowa. Civic Music Association will present a concert and outreach initiative that will bring Ensemble Dal Niente, a contemporary chamber music ensemble from Chicago, and Matt Haimovitz, one of the world’s most talented and innovative cellists, to Des Moines. The Des Moines Art Center will present educational programming as part of the exhibition Iowa Artist 2016: Alex Braidwood & Jordan Weber including artist-led gallery talks and studio workshops. Des Moines Symphony Orchestra will receive funding to support the operating expenses of the organization. Bell Tower Productions will present Harry Connick Jr's The Happy Elf and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee as part of the 2016 Free Summer Musical Program. Tim Olson will document Iowans and their stories by creating a panoramic photograph of fairgoers at the Iowa State Fair. The Dubuque Museum of Art will present the exhibit Ellen Wagener: Horizon Lines and related educational and outreach activities. The Dubuque Symphony Orchestra will present the Hometown Heroes project which will feature the work of artists with an Iowa connection. Dubuque Museum of Art will receive funding to support the operating expenses of the organization. National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium will receive funding to support the operating expenses of the organization. Dubuque Symphony Orchestra will receive funding to support the operating expenses of the organization. Grand Opera House will receive funding to support the operating expenses of the organization. The Museum of Danish America will present The Whimsical World of Bjørn Wiinblad, an iconic Danish artist in the 20th century active throughout Europe and the United States. The Art in the Park Fine Art Festival will produce a free outdoor arts festival including a variety of activities in visual and performing arts to engage the region.

The Fairfield Art Association will work with the community to develop a life-size bronze sculpture to publicly commemorate one of Fairfield's most eccentric and admired citizens. Blanden Art Museum will receive funding to support the operating expenses of the organization. Warren Cultural Center will receive funding to support the stability of the organization. The Grinnell Area Arts Council will partner with Central Iowa Christian School to provide art enrichment to the students through instruction and gallery visits. Opera Iowa will feature Jack and the Beanstalk and the Barber of Seville in a series of classroom workshop and performances for 2017 season. The Grant Wood Art Colony will present the Grant Wood Symposium, Myth, Memories and the Midewest: Grant Wood and Beyond. The Iowa City Book Festival, organized by the Iowa City UNESCO City of Literature, celebrates books and writing by leveraging a unique mix of local resources.

Alexandra Dooley will present the Light Inside, a community generated painting project, that promotes mindfulness, raises mental health awareness and builds bridges across diverse social groups. Sayuri Sasaki Hemann will install the Mind Travelers' Aquarium, a site- specific, temporary exhibit, at the University of Iowa Hopitals and Clinics to provide an oasis for the patients and families that use the facilities. Red Barn Chamber Music will present the Red Barn Chamber Music Festival, a series of concerts in nontraditional venues throughout Iowa City. Seth Wenger will elevate knowledge of the folk art music practice of Shape Note Singing by developing new work, educational materials and networking opportunities around the artform. Hancher will present Step Afrika!, the first professional dance company dedicated to the tradition of stepping, as part of its 2016–17 season. Public Space One will host the Center for Afrofuturist Studies for the Fall 2016 Residency Program to provide a supportive environment in Iowa City for celebrated African-American writers and artists of all genres. The Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center will collaborate with the Family Folk Machine and the Awful Purdies to community recollection and songwriting project.

Mission Creek Festival is a week •long festival produced by The Englert Theatre with a focus on literary readings and events, live music, public lectures, food, culture and hybrid events all serving diverse audiences. Hussite – Czech Music for Eastern Iowa engages Eastern Iowa with a rare opportunity to hear live chamber music which honors Eastern Iowa’s Czech heritage in a series of concerts and educational events. Living Proof Exhibit will offer creative sessions followed by an exhibit for cancer patients in the Cedar Rapids area. Matthew Andreini will present the Iowa Hungary Project, a collaborative album that shares the work of two cultures in orders to foster the creation and performance of new music for percussion. North Star’s Inclusive Community Theatre project will provide adults with disabilities the opportunity to showcase their talents and start a vibrant conversation that will expand their circle of connections beyond their peers and families to encompass the community. Grout Museum District will receive funding to support the operating expenses of the organization. Ballet Des Moines will introduce a new Artist in-Residence program to explore the possibilities of interdisciplinary collaboration in dance. Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre, in collaboration with the West Liberty Coalition and a local Latino organization, will create a bilingual community puppet show, adapting Don Quixote.
