At the time it was the largest fruit and vegetable canning plant in the world producing 200,000 cans per day and employing 2,500 people. In 1963 Architects redesigned the historic brick Del Monte Cannery into a three-level walled city of brick walkways and bridges with retail, restau- rants, and entertainment venues.
