Masters ~' ® S1Ni111111ing 111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111 ~ Published December 2001 UNITED STATES MASTERS SWIMMING 2001 TOP TEN LONG COURSE METERS The 2001 Long Course Top Ten is the second issue in a series of three 2001 Top Ten issues produced by United States Masters Swimming. Inside you will find the Top Ten Times for the 2001 Long Course Meter season (swims performed in a 50 meter pool) made on or before September 30, 2001 and forwarded to the Records and Tabulation Chairman, Pieter Cath, by October 20th, 2001. Each LMSC is responsible for reporting the Top Ten Times, USMS national records, and world records achieved in its LMSC. The first line under each event (which is indented) is the current national record for that event and age group. An "NV" after a top ten time indicates that appropriate documentation has not yet been supplied and the time is Not Yerified as a record. Each person (individuals and relay members) on this list is eligible to purchase a Top Ten Patch with stroke segment. The new person to send your order to is Thomas Gorman. Send $5 to Thomas at 3369 Desota Ave, Cleveland Heights, OH 44118, e-mail [email protected]. Additional stroke segments are $1.25 each. The first issue in this series is 2000-2001 Short Course Yards (swims performed in a 25 yard pool). Times and records considered for this Top Ten list must be made on or before May 31st and reported to the Top Ten Chairman by July 15th. The 2001 Short Course ~eters (swims performed in a 25 meter pool) list is the final issue in this series of Top Tens. Times and records considered for this Top Ten list must be made on or before December 31 st and reported to the Top Ten Chairman by February 5th. Once the SCM Top Ten is finalized, the official 2001 All American Roster will be produced. A swimmer/relay who has the Top Ten time in one or more event(s) in any one of the three courses qualifies for All American status. To order an All American Certificate and Patch, send a check for $5 made out to USMS to: USMS National Office, P.O. Box 185, Londonderry, NH 03053-0185. Those individuals performing the most first place times, in the most events, in their age group are awarded All Star status. All Stars will receive a special award from Kast-A-Way Swimwear, this year's event sponsor. All American (individual) and All Star rosters will appear in the May/June issue of SWIM Magazine. The USMS All Time Top Ten is available in all three courses. This publication lists the top ten fastest times recorded over the years in each age group and each event.     International Masters Training Weekend with Glen Christiansen & Nick Gillingham Following a successful overseas International Masters Training Camp in Tenerife Glen Christiansen from Sweden and Nick Gillingham from Great Britain are delighted to announce a further opportunity for Masters Swimmers at the Sennocke Centre, Sevenoaks, Kent, UK. The Sennocke Centre has all the high quality facilities you would expect for a successful international camp and with two of the World’s greatest breaststroke swimmers together sharing their global swimming and coaching knowledge in the water as well as in the classroom, this swimming experience makes for a unique learning opportunity. Glen Christiansen has coached at the highest level in Sweden, Germany and Japan and as an Olympic swimmer in 1980 has had a lifetime in the sport. Glen was world ranked no.1 for the 100 metres Breaststroke in 1981 and represented Sweden for 9 years. Glen has enjoyed overwhelming coaching success; He was an Olympic coach in 1996 for Sweden and has placed numerous swimmers onto Olympic teams with medal success. He now thrives on the challenges of multi-strokes and multi-ability camps and dedicates all his time to the organisation and delivery of Masters Swim Camps across the World. He became a World Masters Champion for the first time in 1986 and has since collected 14 World Titles across multiple events. Glen has coached Masters Swimming since 1985 around the world and on behalf of FINA has educated coaches in developing countries world-wide. Over 20 gold medal winners at the last World Masters Championships in Gothenburg were guided to success through his knowledge and dedication to the sport; a charismatic man whose energy for the sport of swimming is second to none.
