TRAFFIC CONTROL (REMEMBRANCE DAY ) RULES, 2013

The Commissioner, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 23(2) of the Police Act, with the approval of the Minister, makes the following Rules:

1. These Rules may be cited as the Traffic Control (Remembrance Day Parade) Rules, 2013.

2. In these Rules, “emergency vehicle” means a vehicle used by (a) the Red Cross; (b) the Department of Emergency Management of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital; or (c) an ambulance service; “relevant date” means Sunday, 10th November, 2013; “relevant period” means from 06:00 hours to 10:00 hours; and “vehicle” has the meaning assigned to it by section 2 of the Road Traffic Act, Cap. 295

3. On the relevant date, between 08:00 hours and 9:30 hours, the Remembrance Day Parade will be held in Heroes Square in the parish of Saint Michael. 2 STATUTORY INSTRUMENT

4. On the relevant date, during the relevant period, the following roads in the parish of Saint Michael shall be closed to all vehicular traffic: (a) Trafalgar Street; (b) High Street; and (c) Wharf Road.

5. On the relevant date, during the relevant period, Broad Street from its junction with Prince William Henry Street to its junction with High Street, in the parish of Saint Michael, shall be closed to all vehicular traffic.

6. On the relevant date, during the relevant period, no vehicular traffic shall be allowed to travel from Fairchild Street on to the Charles Duncan O’Neal Bridge in the parish of Saint Michael.

7. On the relevant date, during the relevant period, no person shall park on: (a) Belmont Road; (b) Constitution Road; (c) Martindales Road; (d) St. Michael’s Row; (e) Bridge Street; (f) Trafalgar Street; (g) Magazine Lane; (h) Palmetto Street; and (i) Rickett Street in the parish of Saint Michael. 8. All drivers and riders of vehicles, pedestrians and riders or leaders of animals, using any of the roads specified in these Rules, shall exercise caution and shall comply with any order given by a member of the Police Force in uniform.

9. Any person who contravenes these Rules or fails to comply with any order given by a member of the Police Force in uniform is guilty of an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of $500 or to imprisonment for a term of 3 months.

10. These Rules do not apply to vehicles used by the Police Force, the , the Barbados Fire Service or any emergency vehicle.
