Header Record Per File Daily Racing Form - Text Chart - Data Definitions Each downloaded chart file contains all races run on the card. Each race is uniquely identified by the race number. The first character of each record within the file describes a certain type of data for the chart. Chart File Layout Code Description H “Header” record that describes the race card. There is only one header record per file. R “Race” record contains information about each race. There is one “R” record for each race run on the card that day. S “Starter” record contains information about each starter on the card. E “Exotic Wagering” record contains information about all exotic wagers on the card. Win, Place and Show wagering is contained within the “Starter” record. A “Attendance” record contains information about the attendance and handle wagered on the card. C “Comment” record contains a comment about extra ordinary events occurring for a chart. Such things as late medication disqualifications or a race being declare unofficial because of a malfunction with the starting gate, etc. F “Footnote” record contains the chart footnote.
