Clubmoor Sure Start Children’s Centre – Utting Avenue East, Clubmoor, Liverpool, L11 1DQ Location: The nursery provision (unique reference number: EY315907) is located in Clubmoor Sure Start Children’s Centre which is managed by Leamington School. The centre is a phase one centre. It is located in the Clubmoor Ward bordering the Norris Green Ward and is in the North of the city. It is a purpose built nursery within the sure start children centre which also houses Adult Learning and Connexions. The child care business is registered for a maximum of 55 children aged 0-5 years. There is Early Years Foundation Stage provision and a variety of ‘wrap around’ provision for children. The business opens each weekday from 8am to 6pm all year round (with the exception of Bank Holidays.) All children have access to 3 secure enclosed outdoor play areas. Clubmoor ward is located in the North of the city bordering Norris Green, Anfield and West Derby and is close to Broadway shopping centre. The overall quality of the provision was graded as good. The staff members include a nursery manager, deputy manager, nursery officers and nursery assistants. Staff qualifications include 1 member of staff with an honours degree, one member of staff with a foundation degree, 7 with level 3 qualifications and 1 with level 2 qualifications. The composition of staff also includes the part time cook. The nursery also employs apprentices on a yearly basis and staff on short term contracts who are all qualified. Accommodation: The nursery is situated on the ground floor of the children centre. The nursery is accessed via the main entrance of the Children’s Centre with a reception desk to welcome all visitors and manage access into the building. The Nursery is located towards the back of the centre (access controlled) with a central shared corridor. The staff room is shared with the children centre. The self-contained nursery rooms comprise of 2 large shared play areas, kitchen, large storage cupboard, staff toilet and 2 small offices. Accessed directly from the shared area are 3 classrooms presently used as (1) toddler room with access to baby change and a small milk kitchen and (2) toddler room with a shared changing room and children’s toilets linking to (3) Pre- school nursery room. All 3 rooms have access to outside play space. Also in exclusive use but accessed off the common corridor is a laundry room and store room with an additional large kitchen for cooking meals. Nursery staff will be able to use the shared staff kitchen in the building (positioned off the main corridor) and access to a disabled toilet is also along the main corridor. Total area of the nursery for exclusive use circa 250 sq m The City Council is seeking to enter into a 5 year rental lease on terms to be agreed but it is anticipated that the nursery lessee will be responsible for internal repairs, business rates and non-metered water charges and will contribute towards a service charge to reimburse the Council for a fair share of the running costs of the building (including matters such as repairs, building insurance, heat, light, power, cleaning of common areas, external grounds maintenance etc. The nursery lessee will be responsible for their own cleaning and IT provision.
