  • Davies Clashes with Limond in Glasgow
DAVIES CLASHES WITH LIMOND IN GLASGOW Ohara Davies will face Willie Limond on the undercard of Ricky Burns’ WBA World Super-Lightweight title defence against Kiryl Relikh at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on Friday October 7, live on Sky Sports. Unbeaten Hackney talent Davies landed the English belt in April with a KO win over Andy Keates at The O2 in London and the 24 year old known as ‘Two Tanks’ made it 10 KOs from a dozen pro outings in June. Davies faces a real step-up in class on his first trip north of the border as he meets the decorated champion Limond, with the popular Glasgow man entering the ring in his 45th pro outing and 15th title action. The 37 year old put in a spirited challenge for the British Super-Lightweight title against Tyrone Nurse at the SSE Arena in May and will provide Davies with his sternest test yet having shared the ring with World champions Amir Khan, Anthony Crolla and Alex Arthur. “This is a huge step up for Ohara and a real 50-50 fight,” said promoter Eddie Hearn. “Willie is looking to bounce back and Ohara hasn’t operated anywhere near this level. The card is shaping up nicely for a huge night in Glasgow on October 7.” Davies’ clash with Limond is part of a huge night of action in Glasgow as three-weight World champion Ricky Burns defends his WBA World Super-Lightweight title against unbeaten mandatory challenger Kiryl Relikh. Scotty Cardle defending his British Lightweight title against Kevin Hooper, Commonwealth Games gold medal favourite Charlie Flynn tackling Manchester’s Kofi Yates, outings for Flynn’s Commonwealth Games teammate Joe Ham and Brixton’s Heavyweight star Dillian Whyte, plus more to be added.

  • Josh Warrington-Sofiane Takoucht and Jay Harris-Paddy Barnes Headline Two-Card Weekend Extravaganza on ESPN+
Josh Warrington-Sofiane Takoucht and Jay Harris-Paddy Barnes Headline Two-Card Weekend Extravaganza on ESPN+ (Oct. 10, 2019) — ESPN+, the leading multi-sport streaming service, will stream a pair of stacked cards this weekend, including a world title bout featuring all-action IBF featherweight champion Josh Warrington. The weekend extravaganza kicks off Friday at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT, as unbeaten flyweight contender Jay Harris will battle three-time Irish Olympian Paddy Barnes in a 12-rounder at Ulster Hall in Belfast. Warrington will make the third defense of his title Saturday against Sofiane Takoucht at the First Direct Arena in his hometown of Leeds, England. Warrington-Takoucht and select undercard bouts will stream live on ESPN+ starting at 2:30 p.m. ET/11:30 a.m. PT. Warrington (29-0, 6 KOs), nicknamed “The Leeds Warrior,” won the world title in his hometown last May with a well-deserved split decision victory over Lee Selby. He returned later that year and bested former two-weight world champion Carl Frampton by unanimous decision in a Fight of the Year contender. In his last outing, Warrington edged Kid Galahad via split decision. Takoucht (35-3-1, 13 KOs) has won eight consecutive bouts and is a former European and IBF International featherweight champion. In other ESPN+ streaming action on the Warrington-Takoucht card: Zelfa Barrett (22-1, 13 KOs) will make the first defense of his Commonwealth super featherweight title in a 12- rounder against Scottish veteran Jordan McCorry (18-6-1, 4 KOs). In a 12-rounder for the vacant Commonwealth light heavyweight title, Lyndon Arthur (15-0, 12 KOs) will take on Emmanuel Anim (14-2-1, 12 KOs).

  • The Rio Review the Official Report Into Ireland's Campaign for the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games
SPÓRT ÉIREANN SPORT IRELAND The Rio Review The official report into Ireland's campaign for the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games RIO 2016 REVIEW Foreword The Olympic and Paralympic review process is an essential component of the Irish high performance system. The implementation of the recommendations of the quadrennial reviews has been a driver of Irish high performance programmes for individual sports and the system as a whole. The Rio Review process has been comprehensive and robust. The critical feature of this Review is that the National Governing Bodies (NGBs) took a greater level of control in debriefing their own experiences. This Review reflects the views of all the key players within the high performance system. Endorsed by Sport Ireland, it is a mandate for the NGBs to fully implement the recommendations that will improve the high performance system in Ireland. There were outstanding performances in Rio at both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Olympic roll of honour received a new addition in Rowing, with Sailing repeating its podium success achieved in Moscow 1980, demonstrating Ireland's ability to be competitive in multiple disciplines. Team Ireland has built on the success of Beijing and London, and notwithstanding problems that arose, Rio was a clear demonstration that Ireland can compete at the very highest levels of international sport. Sport Ireland is committed to the ongoing development of the Sport Ireland Institute and adding to the extensive facilities on the Sport Ireland National Sports Campus. These are real commitments to high performance sport in Ireland that will make a significant difference to Irish athletes who aspire to compete at the top level.
