Lack of efforts in this regard is the major reason for the increasing trend in demolishing such buildings. Once a heritage monument is lost it will be an irreparable loss forever. Spoiling the heritage buildings will amount to a crime committed to the posterity. The Kerala State Town and Country Planning Department has made an attempt to identify the buildings and precincts having heritage value throughout the State as per the advice of the Art and Heritage Commission. The information gathered from the capital district as part of this is now being released as an initial step. It gives pleasure that the book reveals a number of heritage properties around us, which we are ignorant about.
