Subject Details to be published, including links Activity 1 In A level Film Studies we watch and analyse films from all over the world including big Blockbusters, Hong Kong Kung Fu and British Independents. Poster Task- you need to research and create an A4 information poster for a British Film of your choice. It can be a new release or an old classic, but it must be British. In your poster you must include: 1) Institutional details for your film: Director, Year of Release, main Cast, Box Office, BBFC film age Rating, and studio. 2) A short synopsis for the film (overview of the storyline) 3) Some Film review ratings from magazines/ newspapers 4) Pictures relating to the film. 5) Finally, you need to say why you picked this film and what makes it British?

Activity 2 “The best film opening scene …of all time!”

We would like you to write a short essay on your choice of the best opening scene of a film, of all time. It is up to you to argue why you think this film opening is the better than any other film. In your essay we would like you to explain: • why this is the best opening scene of a film, ever? • what elements of the scene draw you in as an audience? • how the director has created this scene? • why we care about the characters- or not? • how this scene sets up the films’ genre and storyline?

The essay should be around 300 words and don’t forget to tell us which film you are using and the date of its release.
