But for a fast, light read I would not hesitate in recommending this series to just about anyone who digs vamps and weres. The first one was okay. The second was better, but it was in the third one that I started to feel a personal connection to the characters. But, Sookie isn't me, or even a normal human being, because she picks C and runs off on a rescue mission for a guy who was literally planning on not even telling her that he was dumping her for another woman. Sookie Stackhouse is back in Club Dead: A Sookie Stackhouse Novel third instalment of the southern vampire series. He has been more interested in working on his computer than spending time with her recently. He seems distracted when she is around and his feelings for her seem to have cooled. He tells her that he is going away and asks her to secretly hide his computer and computer disks in her house while he is gone. Things go from bad to worse when Club Dead: A Sookie Stackhouse Novel man turns up at the bar where Sookie works and tries to kill her. He kills her assailant who turns out to be a werewolf from Mississippi. Sookie finds out from Eric that Bill has been kidnapped by the Mississippi vampires. The werewolves work for the Mississippi vampires and have been sent to capture her in an attempt to make Bill disclose the whereabouts of his computer to his captors. She also finds out that Bill was planning to run away with another woman, a vampire that he had been lovers with many years ago. He arranges for Sookie to go to Jackson, Mississippi to see if she can find out where Bill is being kept prisoner using her telepathic abilities. Her adventures in Jackson take her to Club Dead, a nightclub where vampires and shape shifters hang out together. This is yet another great book from Charlaine Harris. Sookie is in fine form, having more supernatural adventures and disposing of dead werewolves with aplomb. Alcide Herveaux - werewolf, building surveyor, and manly stud muffin is introduced as a new character in this book. So in this book we find out Club Dead: A Sookie Stackhouse Novel about the Club Dead: A Sookie Stackhouse Novel shifters and the werewolves. It is explained that true werewolves can only be born, one child to two full blooded werewolf parents, otherwise the gene is not passed on. The baggage being that he is a werewolf and has a psycho ex-girlfriend. The story is well plotted with twists and turns that are original and unexpected plus the mystery element of the story is first rate too. The action in the story was fast paced and once again Charlaine Harris has written a book that I found hard to put down. In Club DeadSookie 's boyfriend Bill disappears while working on a secret project, and Sookie heads out to Jackson, Mississippi in hopes of retrieving him alive. In this quest, she enlists the aid of a werewolfAlcide Herveauxand a vampire Eric. The novel was adapted as the third season of True Bloodthe HBO series based on the novels, however with a few notable differences. The season was broadcast from June 13 to September 12, The novel takes place in December. Sookie discovers Bill working secretively on his computer. Bill closes a file but not before Sookie sees the screen. Bill informs Sookie he has to leave to complete a task ordered by the Queen of Louisiana Vampires. Days later, a werewolf targeting Sookie comes into her workplace, Merlotte's, but he is eliminated by Bubbasent on Eric's orders, before he can harm Sookie. As night falls, Eric and his employees tell Sookie that Bill had actually been in Mississippiwhere his former lover and maker Lorena had summoned him. They continue to Club Dead: A Sookie Stackhouse Novel Sookie that Bill has since then gone missing, and Eric speaks of his suspicions on Lorena's involvement. Sookie shares an intimate moment with Eric, but Bubba informs them Bill is being tortured in one of Edgington's poolhouses. At dawn, Sookie heads out to the poolhouse. She frees Bill and manages to stake Lorena as she attacks, but is locked into the trunk of her own car alongside the sleeping Bill when she returns to Alcide's apartment building. When Bill, deprived of blood and sleep for a week, wakes up, he attacks and feeds on Sookie and rapes her in the trunk. Sookie asks Eric to drive her home, fed up with the whole ordeal. While on their way home, two robbers raid a gas station alongside their route looking for Sookie and Eric and in Sookie's home, several werewolves wait for her and attack her. Eric and Bill eliminate all werewolves, but Sookie angrily breaks up with Bill and rescinds both Bill and Eric's invitation to her house.
