June 21, 2018 The Honorable Deb Fischer The Honorable Don Bacon 454 Russell Senate Office Building 1515 Longworth HOB Washington, DC 20510 Washington, DC 20515 The Honorable Ben Sasse The Honorable Jeff Fortenberry 136 Russell Senate Office Building 1514 Longworth HOB Washington, DC 20515 Washington, DC 20515 The Honorable Adrian Smith 320 Cannon House Office Building Washington, DC 20515 Dear Members of the Nebraska Congressional Delegation, We are writing today to express our concern about the treatment of immigrant children and families at our nation’s borders. The cruel and inhumane policy of separating children from parents seeking safe harbor in the U.S. is contrary to our values as Nebraskans, Americans, and family members. Separating children from their families is unnecessary to achieve our immigration policy goals and has significant and traumatic effects on children. Our immigration policies must be built on the same principles of humanity that guide our domestic policies, those which respect the safety and dignity of all individuals and the importance of families. We encourage you to take quick action to end this harmful practice. Respectfully, Senator Carol Blood Senator Kate Bolz Legislative District #3, Bellevue Legislative District #29, Lincoln Senator Mike McDonnell Senator Roy Baker Legislative District #5, Omaha Legislative District #30, Lincoln Senator Tony Vargas Senator Rick Kolowski Legislative District #7, Omaha Legislative District #31, Omaha Senator Sara Howard Senator Dan Quick Legislative District #9, Omaha Legislative District #35, Grand Island Senator Lynne Walz Senator Sue Crawford Legislative District #15, Fremont Legislative District #45, Bellevue Senator Paul Schumacher Senator Adam Morfeld Legislative District #22, Columbus Legislative District #46, Lincoln Senator Matt Hansen Legislative District #26, Lincoln Senator Anna Wishart Legislative District #27, Lincoln Senator Patty Pansing Brooks Legislative District #28, Lincoln .
