39 "Hats off to Volunteers" Amerigo Hosts Annual TPAC Volunteer Luncheon

For the second year in a row, the Tennessee Performing Arts Center extends its thanks to Amerigo for sponsoring its annual “Hats Off to Volunteers” luncheon. The event recognizes those who donate their invaluable time and eff ort to TPAC year-round.

TPAC celebrated over 150 active volunteers at the June 14 gathering, featuring a three-course meal in the West End eatery’s main dining room and fun games with appreciation prizes. Th e afternoon’s highlight came from the much-loved hat decorating contest that produced some of the most memorable creations TPAC staff has seen to date, including a gravity-defying balloon hat (worn by Loraine Flegal) and an ingenious TPAC “tea-pack” hat (worn by Graham Sugg).

“We are yet again indebted to sales and marketing manager Ali Gensert and the wonderful staff of Amerigo for creating such an elaborate and elegant afternoon for our volunteers,” said Melissa Brett, TPAC’s senior community relations manager. “Day in and day out, we rely on our volunteers to off er that extra dose of warmth and hospitality our patrons have come to expect. Th ey deserve to have their work applauded in such an enjoyable fashion.”

During the 2007-2008 season, 282 diff erent TPAC volunteers completed 3,118 hours of service. Th e organization looks to continue its trend of excellent service with the current 2008-2009 season.

Amerigo has five restaurant locations in Kentucky, Mississippi and Tennessee, off ering a casual, cozy and upbeat atmosphere and serving new world Italian cuisine. Th e award-winning bistro chain, open since 1987, features a wood fi re oven grill and an American and Mediterranean twist on traditional Italian food. Th e Nashville restaurant is conveniently located near TPAC Special Thanks To at 1920 West End Avenue and off ers both lunch and dinner menus for everything from an intimate pre-show date to large group celebrations.

Restrooms for Polk Theater are located down the stairs to the left of the entrance to the orchestra level and on the balcony level. All cellular phones, pagers, watch alarms, cameras, recorders and other electronic devices should be turned off prior to the performance or checked-in with the floor manager or an usher, who will note the seating location of physicians and others who expect emergency calls. Call “Lost and Found” at 615/782-4098 to report an item which may have been left at TPAC. Natural Herb Cough Drops, courtesy of RICOLA USA, Inc., are available in the back of Andrew Jackson Hall and in the Polk Theater lobby. In case of an emergency, the number to leave with others is 615/782-4000 (along with performance attending, theater, and seat location). Smoking is permitted outside of the building.
