Laguna Gloria Site Rentals November 2013 Site Rentals Laguna Gloria is one of the desired and award-winning places in Central Texas to host exquisite private events, receptions, ceremonies and weddings. There is nothing that compares to the unique beauty of Laguna Gloria. Your use of Laguna Gloria is limited only by your imagination—we invite you to join us to view the grounds and consider the possibilities! The twelve acres of Central Texas beauty and a mile of Lake Austin shoreline have been named an official Austin landmark and a Texas historical landmark. The site was designated an official project of Save America’s Treasures by the National Trust for Historic Preservation (2000). An urban oasis minutes from downtown, located off of 35th Street and MoPac, Laguna Gloria is home to a Mediterranean-style Villa built in 1916 by Clara Driscoll, best known for helping to save the Alamo from destruction in 1903. You’re welcome to visit the grounds and Driscoll Villa during our open hours—no appointment necessary— or contact us at the phone number or email address provided to book an appointment (accommodated Monday–Friday only). THE CONTEMPORARY AUSTIN MISSION STATEMENT The Contemporary Austin reflects the spectrum of contemporary art through exhibitions, commissions, education, and the collection. SPACES AVAILABLE FOR PRIVATE EVENTS: 1) FULL RENTAL & 2) SOLARIUM-ONLY For more specifics on regulations and inclusions, please see the Terms & Booking Regulations sheet (Exhibit A) and the Area Specification Sheet (Exhibit B). We are unable to host political fundraisers; we are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. 1. FULL RENTAL This historic Driscoll Villa and surroundings were fashioned after Clara Driscoll’s honeymoon to Lake Como in Italy. Overlooking Lake Austin, the historically inspired architecture includes the original living parlor, dining, and garden rooms, complete with an elevator and expanded restroom facilities. The second floor contains the Solarium, a room with three walls of windows overlooking the grounds and Lake Austin. This area is perfect as a bridal suite or additional event space. The outdoor terraces and the granite path serve as wonderful areas for dining, ceremonies, mingling, dancing, lounging, and watching the sunset over the water. The Temple of Love is a reproduction of a classic gazebo built for Clara; it is located at the original entrance to Laguna Gloria (by water!), a gorgeous area excellent for ceremonies and cocktail receptions. The Four Seasons Garden features the original statues that Clara acquired while traveling in Venice, and is ideal for wedding ceremonies, guest seating, and cocktail receptions. White strung lights are hung throughout the trees of the grounds adding magic to prompt your imagination. Ellsworth Kelly's piece at the Blanton Museum played again with my senses and conception about history and religion, and Jeffrey Gibson's exhibition gave me one of the most astonish aesthetical experiences I've had along the year.
