When Tai decided to take up Speedway racing as a junior rider at the Bibra Lake circuit, Rob was always seen helping out in the pits. Tai won the 2005-06 WA Under 16 (125cc) Championship at Pinjar Park, then the family moved back to the UK to further his career. His father was honoured by having the pits area named after him. Sadly Rob passed away in January 2010 at the age of 47, and did not get to see his son become a multiple World Champion. The Rob Woffinden Classic is run in his memory and is one of the main events of the season. Below are some of the highlights of this annual event. WOFFY WESTERNAPOLIS - 2009-10 ROB WOFFINDEN CLASSIC #1 - 2010-11 ROB WOFFINDEN CLASSIC #2 - 2011-12 World Under 21 Champion Darcy Ward (Qld) The first running of the Rob Woffinden Classic saw American Ricky Wells emerged victorious in the second running notched five wins from five starts in the heats and Speedway Grand Prix rider Fredrik Lindgren (Sweden) of the Rob Woffinden Classic at the Pinjar Park Speedway. then led home Sam Masters (NSW), Joe Haines prove too strong for Ty Proctor (Vic), Steve Johnston (UK) and Taylor Poole (NSW) in the 10-lap final. The last chance qualifier went to Kling over British riders Simon Stead and Joe Haines. This elevated Ty Proctor (Vic) to second spot ahead of veteran rider Frank Smart.
