Let our nation return to timely trials, end cruel and unusually excessive sentences, allow the poor to have a good defense, and may our peace officers never exceed the facts. Let our prisons never have any element of torture— the time is already a torture. And to all my many children, some by blood and some by care. Parenting is impossible, but I never favored the easy road. Thank you for making life so meaningful. While we have agents for treating malaria we still have many issues that limit application of effective care throughout the world. In contrast, research on Babesia is not very advanced and treatment op- tions are overly simplistic. Some researchers and clinicians feel one can simply plug in a malaria treatment with the same dose and duration, and get the same effect in killing Babesia. I am certain this is an error. If Ba- besia was “just like” malaria, we would call it a sub-type of malaria. Further, the number of true experts on Babesia, and who have read most of the publications in English print, is possibly under a dozen individuals. And yet with new issues with Babesia resistance and delivery of malaria care and new unique protozoa like FL1953, we see materials speaking with authority not based on broad scientific curiosity, but a type of sim- plistic medicine consistent with an emerging infection. Finally, Babesia has huge impacts in human biochemistry, hormones, weight, energy, sensations, tissue and organs. You cannot do one test and determine if Babesia is present in either an animal or a human. I wish such a comfortable myth was true, but it is just old and ineffective medicine. The references that follow are a small sample of materials related to treat- ment. This book is written for individuals who have a master’s degree, a PhD or MD in the medical sciences. If you are not trained at least at the master’s level in mammalian related science, this text is not for you. • Flutists' Family Tree : in Search of the American Flute School / by Demetra
FLUTISTS’ FAMILY TREE: IN SEARCH OF THE AMERICAN FLUTE SCHOOL DOCUMENT Presented in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for The Degree Doctor of Musical Arts in the Graduate School of The Ohio State University By Demetra Baferos Fair, M.M. ***** The Ohio State University 2003 Dissertation Committee: Professor Katherine Borst Jones, Adviser Approved by Professor Lois Rosow Professor Christopher Weait Adviser School of Music Copyright by Demetra Baferos Fair 2003 ABSTRACT For decades, American flutists have sought to identify specific traits that define their playing as a whole. While the “French School” has been characterized by a preoccupation with tone, a standard repertoire, and set of teaching materials written by Paris Conservatoire professors, no such definition can yet be set forth for the “American School.” This document provides a clear starting point for research into the what, where, why, and how of the “American Flute School” by first identifying who is associated with that school. By tracing the lineage of transverse flute playing from teacher to student through the past 300 years, we may identify orchestral flutist, soloist, and teacher, Georges Barrère, as a primary influence upon American flute playing. Barrère and his students – and his students’ students – have taught approximately 91% of all living flutists in the United States today. Of that vast number, approximately 87% can trace their heritage (through one or more of their teachers) to Barrère student William Kincaid, renowned flutist of the Philadelphia Orchestra and pedagogue at the Curtis Institute of Music. It is important to note that most modern musicians study with more than one teacher over the course of their career (usually between three and eight).

OBITUARIES OF BURLINGTON PEOPLE Bold print indicated obits that I copied personally, mostly in full. (compiled by L.Alderman, revised updated, 10-19-2006 These obituaries have been accumulated, hoping that they will be helpful genealogically. Also to provide some knowledge of earlier Burlington residents. They have been obtained mostly from newspaper clippings in old scrap books. If the newspaper name was available, that also was included. Also I have added much more information to them over the years such as full dates, full names and relationships, etc. There are bound to be errors. I would be glad to correct any to keep the record straight. Also would welcome more additions of Burlington people.
