CENTER SINGERS TO GIVE BENEFIT CONCERT We are very happy to announce a very special concert for our spring "Dessert with the Arts" program. Flory Jagoda, popular folk singer and exponent of Sephardic and Ladino music, will join our own Center Singers in this outstanding, unique concert. Florys music is the precious past-vivid and lyrical. She enhances her repertoire of Ladino liturgicals and folk songs by cradling them in stories of the special history of the Balkan Sephardim.

DATE: Sunday, April 6, 1986 TIME: 7:30 p.m. PLACE: Temple Rodef Shalom 2100 Westmoreland Street Falls Church, VA DONATION: $10 per person Refreshments will be served. The proceeds from this concert will support our choral arts program. RELIGIOUS SCHOOL NEWS RELIGIOUS SCHOOL Report Cards - Progress reports were sent home for all students K-Grade 9 early in March. Separate reports have been issued for and Hebrew (Grades 3-7). Parents, please be sure to sign and return the cards immediately via your child. We would like to keep follow-up calls and notes regarding the return of report cards to a minimum. If you have not received a report from your child or in the mail or if you have questions, please call the school office (532-2207). Attention parents of students who will have a Bar/Bat in 1986. According to our records, all youngsters who will become a Bar/Bat Mitzvah during 1986 have been scheduled for a seminar with the Rabbi. If your child has not attended one of these six-week sessions and is not scheduled for the session which begins April 9, please contact the school office (532-2207) immediately. Family Shabbat - This month the weather cooperated with us and we had a delightful Family Shabbat program on March 7. Haskalah students (8th grade) did a fine job of reading the service including special prayers written on their theme of Freedom. We were delighted at the students poise, command of Hebrew and thoughts on their theme. Attendance by families with children of all ages was excellent and spirited Israeli Dance was led by Judy jacobsohn after the service. Special thanks to the Brotherhood for providing an oneg treat of ice cream. Next month we look forward to the participation of 6th and 7th graders rescheduled from a snowy Friday in February. Family Shabbat will be April 7 at 7:45 p.m. We hope to see you and your family!

"UAHC CONFERENCE ON RELIGIOUS COMMITMENT: WRESTLING WITH GOD" - Washington Hebrew Congregation, Sunday, April 6, 198 "How can I believe in God after Auschwitz?" "How can I believe in God in an age of science and technology?" These statements reflect the tremendous assaults that events of the past century have made on the will to believe. This plus what someone has termed "a conspiracy of silence about God", an embarrassment to talk about God among Reform Jews, has not been able to mask the fact: that there is a tremendous spiritual hunger for a meaningful faith. Certainly this becomes very evident when a book like When Bad Things Happen to Good People is published. Hundreds of thousands of copies are eagerly purchased and read. The Mid-Atlantic Council UAHC is planning a one-day conference on the theme: "Wrestling with God" on Sunday, April 6, 1986, from 9:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Washington Hebrew Congregation, Macomb Street and Massachusetts Ave., NW, Washington. Come and participate in a dialogue in small group sessions in which WAshington area Reform and you will exchange personal views about God. To register, please return the coupon below by April 1 with your check payable to Mid-Atlantic Council, UAHC.

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF The Lastest News From Anatevka - Theres a lot of excitement here at Temple Rodef Shalom these days--all that singing and dancing in preparation for our May 15, 17, and 18 performances of "Fiddler on the Roof" which NVJCC is cosponsoring with Rodef Shalom. After an overwhelming response to our call for auditions, a terrific cast was chosen. More than 60 talented people tried out--a difficult task for our director, Bruce Dworkin, musical director, Kathy Erskine, and choreographer, Debbie Saady. All of these key people, their scenographir. designer, Joe Musumeci, and the several members of the production crew, are new this year to our Center productions and come to us with great credentials.

We still need volunteers to help with the sets and props, costumes, publicity and ticket sales. Call Ruth Checknoff, 323-0880, to get the details.
