International Conference "Reliability and efficiency of gas transport systems" From 11 till 16 March 2013 in Yaremcha Ivano-Frankivsk region hosted an international conference "Reliability and efficiency gas transport systems." The opening remarks and welcome speech for participants made S.Vynokurov - Chairman of the Board of JSC "Ukr-Transgas." At the international conference took place representatives of leading national and international oil and gas companies. Representatives of the national joint-stock company "Naftogaz of Ukraine" S.O. Storchak and V.O. Zaets prepared and presented a report entitled : "The main activities of the Department of labor protection, industrial safety and reliability of transporting oil and gas of the National Joint Stock Company "Naftogaz of Ukraine ". There is provided a presentation of the Company`s activities in the direction of transmission and underground storage of gas caused a wide interested of representatives of foreign companies as JSC "Moldovagas" , OAO "Gazprom ", LLC " Gazprom VNIIGAZ », NET4GAS, Eustream a.s. and others. A well-grounded report of the engineer in-chief PJSC "Ukrtransgas" I.V.Lohman about the strategy on Ukrainian oil and gas sector modernization to improve efficiency and reliability of operation allowed to define the main priorities in securing further work effectively with an unique integrated transport and underground storage of gas .. Reports of Czech and Slovak partners about the asset management and the impact of "Nord Stream" construction on the operation of oil and gas sector in Slovakia, committed a special consideration of specialists. International Conference held at the high level of proficiency and motivated professionals of worldwide companies to exchange ideas and the experience of work. As recognized by international participants of the conference, close cooperation between the oil and gas community around the world not only fosters partnerships with gas transport companies in Europe, but also provides reliability of gas supply and a positive image of Ukraine abroad.     European Transport \ Trasporti Europei n. 30 (2005): 14-36 Ukrainian and Russian waterways and the development of European transport corridors Michael Doubrovsky1∗ 1Odessa National Maritime University, Odessa, Ukraine Abstract Four of the nine international transport corridors pass through the territory of Ukraine: №3, №5, №7, and №9. In recent years Ukraine conducted an active policy supporting the European initiatives on the international transport corridors and offered variants of corridors to the European community. In the field of a water transport it is planned to carry out the construction of new and reconstruction of existing infrastructure (regarding corridors № 9; TRACECA; Baltic - Black Sea) in the main Ukrainian ports. The paper considers the situation in the Ukrainian waterways as a part of the international transport corridors. It presents an analysis of the existing situation and some planning measures. In order to optimize and rationally development the inland waterways and seaports of the Black Sea – Azov Sea region it is necessary to speed up the working out and official approval of the regional transport ways network. Regarding Ukrainian seaports this task is carried out within the framework of program TRACECA, and also by Steering Committee of Black Sea PETRA and working group on transport of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation. To connect the new members countries of EU two approaches are considered: (1) the use of the Danube River due to restoration of navigation in its Ukrainian part, providing an exit to the Black Sea; (2) the creation of new inland water-transport links providing a more rational and uniform distribution of freight traffics from the Central and Northern Europe (using the third largest river in Europe - Dnepr River running into the Black Sea).

In the article, the authors analyze the role of Kremenchuk as an industrial center. The Paleocene Yamna Formation represents one of the main oil-bearing sequences in the Ukrai- nian part of the Carpathian petroleum province. Major oil accumulations occur in the Boryslav-Pokuttya and Skyba Units of the Ukrainian Carpathians. In the great part of the study area, the Yamna Formation is made up of thick turbiditic sandstone layers functioning as reservoir rocks for oil and gas. The reconstructions of depositional environments of the Paleocene flysch deposits performed based on well log data, lithological and petrographic investigations showed that the terrigenous material was supplied into the sedimentary basin from two sources. One of them was located in the northwest of the study area and was characterized by the predomi- nance of coarse-grained sandy sediments. Debris coming from the source located in its central part showed the predominance of clay muds and fine-grained psammitic material. The peculiarities of the terrigenous material distribution in the Paleocene sequence allowed singling out four areas with the maximum development (> 50% of the total section) of sandstones, siltstones and mudstones. The performed petrographic investigations and the estimation of reservoir properties of the Yamna Formation rocks in these four areas allowed establishing priority directions of further exploration works for hydrocarbons in the study territory.
