District Attorney’s Office CHARMECKDA.COM State of North Carolina 26th Prosecutorial District Mecklenburg County NEWS R. Andrew Murray District Attorney RELEASE March 17, 2017 DA Murray teams up with country music star Jana Kramer for domestic violence PSA CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Mecklenburg County District Attorney Andrew Murray collaborated with country music star and actress Jana Kramer, a domestic violence survivor, to create a public service announcement that will air on Beasley Media Group’s six local radio stations this month. In the public service announcement, District Attorney Murray calls attention to the epidemic of domestic violence across the country and in Mecklenburg County. “It affects all people – rich and poor, males and females of all ages, races and sexual orientations,” District Attorney Murray says in the public service announcement. “It’s bound to affect someone you know – even music stars like Jana Kramer.” After years of keeping silent about the abuse she suffered at the hands of an ex-husband, Ms. Kramer has recently publicly discussed her experience with domestic violence and says she is lucky to be alive. “Not only can we survive but we can also thrive,” Ms. Kramer tells the community in the public service announcement. “If it can happen to me, it can happen to someone you love or anyone that you know. Please stand with us, and let’s be their hope.” Click here to listen to the public service announcement.
