With a new committee and a new look this year, we still promise the same hockey, beer and banter but with a much greater emphasis on the social aspect of your tour. We trust you will all have a fantastic weekend and appreciate the changes that we have made to improve your Blackpool experience. The most noticeable change you will find is that there is no longer the need to travel to Lytham which was always an inconvenience. Without doubt, the most exciting addition to the Festival is the new social marquee. This is situated next to the Cricket Club and our thanks go to them for supplying this venue along with DJs and live bands on the Friday and Saturday nights. Another new addition is the informal pre- tour get together on Thursday night. This is a chance for early arrivals, local teams and umpires to sample what the rest of the weekend holds. If this is a success, we plan to make this an official extra night from 2013! We have also secured several new sponsors and partners (both local and national) and we hope to add to this list next year. However, our proudest achievement to date is our partnership with Blackpool Carers Centre; a local charity which provides support for unpaid carers in Blackpool. We aim to raise as much money as possible over the weekend, with a target of £5000. We hope you will support all the various fundraising ideas we have put in place. Any voluntary donations would also be greatly appreciated. A tremendous amount of hard work has gone into organising this year’s event, and a special thanks must go to David Gee, Simon Allen, Debs Huyton, David Wright, George Robson and Clive Dennis. Without their help, the Festival would never get off the ground. Now all that remains to be said is that we hope you enjoy the hockey, the changes and all that Blackpool Hockey Festival has to offer. And we look forward to seeing you all back in Blackpool in 2013!
