Progress Since 2012 Name Suburb Region/District Project Type Project Description Current Status 2nd Bulk Liquids Berth Port Botany Eastern City Freight Planning approval to develop a second Bulk Liquids Completed District Berth (BLB2) at Port Botany was received in 2008. On 31 May 2011, John Holland Pty Ltd was engaged to construct the BLB2. The berth became operational in December 2013. The main products handled at the BLB are refined fuels, gases and chemicals / other bulk liquids. BLB2 comprise a steel piled pier adjacent to the existing BLB1; associated infrastructure such as marine loading arms, fire fighting equipment, onshore support facilities and pipelines from existing user sites to the new berth. The open access, multi user berth operates on a 24 hour/ 7 day per week basis. BLB2 has been designed to accommodate 120,000 dead weight tonne vessels to a maximum of 270m length overall. Abbotsford Wharf - Abbotsford Eastern City Maritime The upgrade aims to provide easier access to the wharf, Planning Wharf Upgrade District better weather protection, additional seating, improved program safety, quicker and more efficient boarding and disembarking, increased capacity and more efficient interchange with other modes of transport.
