Payway Complete by Edgil ad.indd 1 3/21/2017 3:31:51 PM A Letter from Our Presidents Welcome to Atlanta! This year’s conference is taking place in the capital of the South, Atlanta, ! This very special conference marks the first time that the SCMA and MACMA organizations have come together to make your time here in Atlanta even more wonderful.

We have a great conference lined up Walter Goggins this year with the theme of “Transfor- Keven Zepezauer Tennessee Valley Printing Co. mation 2017.” With this theme comes The Wilson Times Company Circulation Director General Manager Florence, AL great circulation strategies for building Wilson, NC revenue and managing your evolving departments. We would like to take a moment to thank everyone on this year’s SCMA and MACMA Board of Directors for all of the hard work they put into planning our 1st joint conference. We strongly believe in the missions of both organizations and consider this the beginning of a magnificent partnership that will serve the needs of both organizations, its members, and business partners for years to come.

Many of us are wearing more hats now than we ever have before as we look to discover multiple methods of enhancing revenue, building audience and overhauling our distribu- tion models. There have been many changes over the years, a large portion over the past 10 years. Technology has become a major focus and priority in our day to day objectives, open- ing up a plethora of new revenue possibilities. This year’s “Transformation 207” conference will focus on many different objectives with topics covering a wide range, such as social media, joint distribution, internet revenue, customer service and other hot ideas.

Attending these conferences is very important. This is one of the few opportunities that we, as Audience and Circulation leaders, get the opportunity to come together to learn and develop solutions that will help newspapers for years to come. Audience and Circulation departments now make up nearly 50% of the total revenue for many newspapers. It is im- portant for all of us to develop a strong network that will allow us to continue to meet these expectations. By joining efforts both MACMA and SCMA look to strengthen this network of newspaper professionals. In doing this we will help continue our collective efforts to grow audience and successfully meet revenue expectations . It’s never easy but we can’t imagine a group of people more fit to take on the task.

Finally, we want to thank all of our members for their support and a special thanks to our business partners who support each of us in our pursuit of knowledge, development, sales and dry papers. By joining together both MACMA and SCMA are working together to create a solid foundation. One we hope that our members, business partners and newspapers will be able to build upon. On behalf of both MACMA’s and SCMA’s entire boards, we want to say thank you and welcome to Atlanta. 15 2017 Ask the Experts Panel
