Spring Is In The Air! Spring is one of the four seasons, and it brings mild, warmer weather. As the Earth revolves around the Sun (It takes one full year for it to completely rotate around the Sun one time.), the side of the Earth you live on, or hemisphere, is either closer to the Sun or farther away. The warmer weather is due to the closer distance to the Sun. The beginning of Spring is marked by the Vernal Equinox. An Equinox, which only happens twice a year, is the only day of the year when both day and night are the same length of time. In the Northern Hemisphere, we experience the Vernal Equi- nox (or irst day of Spring) around March 21, while in the Southern Hemisphere, on the opposite side of the Earth, they are having their irst day of Autumn. Our Spring usually lasts until around the end of June when the hemisphere is even closer to the Sun, and the hot Summer weather ar- rives. During Spring, the lowers bloom; trees once again have green leaves; plants grow; animals become active again; and gardens are planted. Lots of people begin to spend more time outdoors, while others “Spring” clean their homes. Spring Animal Sudoku Spring Word Find

Springtime brings animals out from their homes and shelters. Using the symbols shown (bear, frog, snail, and porcupine), complete the puzzle below. Natalie Morrow was crowned Miss Southern Arkansas ‘’ to be University last weekend in Magnolia. A native of Bryant, she is a graduate of UA Cossatot and participated in the transfer program to SAU where she is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She plans inducted into HoF to graduate in May of 2017 after completing her student internship. Morrow lives in Nashville, works as a stylist at Wild Ivy Salon and at UA Cossatot all while attending SAU. As the winner of the scholarship competition, Morrow earned over $6,000 in scholarships and over $1,000 in prizes and awards. The title also earned her a place in the Miss Arkansas competition held in Hot Springs this summer “I chose UA Cossatot for my Associate Degree because of the curriculum that was available through online courses,” said Morrow. “I work full time as a cosmetologist at Wild Ivy Salon, so I wanted to be enrolled in a school that allowed me to be flexible with my work schedule.” Morrow lives in Nashville and is enrolled in online classes, along with other off-campus students, who participate in the Early Childhood Education program designed for working students. Eventually, she plans to obtain a Masters in Counseling and Professional Studies and use that degree to become a counselor at the elementary school level.
