Miracle's of Guru Ji Miracle’s Of Guru Ji 1 Miracle’s Of Guru Ji “Miracles of Guru Ji” “Om Namah Shivaye Shiv Ji Sada Sahaye Om Namah Shivaye Guru Ji Sada Sahaye” While writing this book Guru Ji said to me on 7th of July this book will be completed and released on that day. (Jab maine ye book likhni start ki thi, tab mujhko Guru Ji ne kha ki is book ko 7th July ko pura krke us din release krna.) “Shukrana Guru Ji” 2 Miracle’s Of Guru Ji For giving me this sewa, still i can’t be able to understand that how can i write a book, as i don’t know how to write, what to write, but i’m writing as Guru Ji putting the words into my mind and without thinking i’m writing and i’m so happy as Guru Ji gave me this sewa. (Shukrana Guru Ji apka bahot bahot, apne mujhko ye sewa di, mein aaj bhi nhi smjh paa rahi ki mein kaise book likh sakti hu, jabki maine kbhi kuch aisa nhi likha, mein ye bhi nhi janti ki mujhko likhna kya hai, par pata nhi jab Guru Ji ke pass bethti hu, to bas GuruJi ko dekhti hu or vo apne shabd mere mind mein dalte hai, or mein likhti jati hu, or mein bahot khush hu ki GuruJi ne ye sewa di mujhko) Jai Guru Ji sangat ji, on 27 April 2017, I started writing this book and on 26 of April in the mid night i was just sitting in Guru Ji room, looking at him continuously and talking to him only and suddenly this came into my mind to wrote about the Miracles of Guru Ji on my family then i came back to my room to sleep for a while but i didn’t slept as my mind is continuously thinking about how to write as i’m not good in writing that’s what only i think, but Guru Ji bring this idea into my mind and i have to follow him as it is Guru Ji’s order So, i started thinking that what would be the name of this book then i asked Guru Ji, “Guru Ji naam kya rakhu book ka”, then this name came into my mind “Miracles of Guru Ji”. (“Jai Guru Ji” sangat ji, 27 April’2017, maine ye book likhna start ki or 26 April ko aadhi raat beet chuki thi or mein Guruji ke room mein bethi hui thi, or bas continuously Guruji ko dekhi ja rahi thi, or Guru ji se baate kr rahi thi, or aisa lga 3 Miracle’s Of Guru Ji jaise GuruJi bol rahe ho mujhko ki ek book likh jisme mere Miracles/chamatkar teri family pe jo hue vo is book mein likho or sangat ke bhi satsang likho jo maine dekhe, uske baad mein apne room mein agai, or sone ki koshish krne lgi pr so nhi pai, kyuki mein yehi sochti rahi ki kaise likhungi, kya likhungi, kyuki maine aise kbhi koi book nhi likhi, bas mann mein yehi sawal chl rahe the ki kaise likhungi, par agar Guruji ne ye baat mere mind mein dali hai to mujhe usko manna hai, or fir maine sochna shuru kia ki is book ka naam kya hona chahiye, or fir maine Guru Ji se pucha ki Book ka naam kya rakhu Guru Ji, or tab mere mind mein ye naam aya jo Guru Ji ne bataya “Miracles of Guru Ji on my family”) Sangat ji u won’t believe one day i received a message from Guru Ji Sangat one uncle, or vo message tha ki “Satguru hoye dayal tan Shradha puri eh Likhan laeyi te oh vadiyanchezanlikhwa sakde ne Jadd tu likhan vaithega apni zindagi di dastan nu Ohna di rehmatan payega hr ek panne te” That uncle is like a messenger to me, through him Guru Ji gave me the answers of all my questions, whenever i’m upset or in any trouble, Guru Ji sends his vachan through him which is exactly the answers of all my questions, sometimes i got shocked that how would that uncle knows about all these, becoz all vachans are exactly the answers of my questions what i’m thinking, then after reading all vachans of Guru Ji, i said “Jai Guru Ji”. Whatever i’m doing or thinking, Guru Ji is kept watching me all the time, 4 Miracle’s Of Guru Ji (Sangat ji aap vishwas nhi krenge, ek din Guru Ji ki sangat mein ek uncle hai jinhone mujhko message kia, or vo message tha ki “Satguru hoye dayal tan Shradha puri eh Likhan laeyi te oh vadiyanchezanlikhwa sakde ne Jadd tu likhan vaithega apni zindagi di dastan nu Ohna di rehmatan payega hr ek panne te” “Shukrana Guru Ji” To jab maine vo message read kia to socha ki mein kya likh sakti hu, or bas vo message ko read kia or fir us message pe dhyan hi nhi diya, pr mujhko kya pata tha ki Guru Ji ne mujhse book likhvani thi jo mein baad mein smjhi. Vo uncle mere liye Guru Ji ke ek postman ki tarah hai, jo Guru Ji ki chitthi mujh tak pauchate hai, or jab bhi mein kisi pareshani mein hoti hu chahey vo choti ho ya badi, unka message usi waqt Guru Ji bhij vate hai, Guru Ji apne vachan’s bhejte hai jisme mere har sawal ka jawab hota hai, kabhi kabhi to mein bahot shocked ho jati thi ki uncle ko kaise pata chal jata hai, dheere dheere mein smjh gai ki Guru Ji ko to sab pata hai hum sabka or har sangat ko vo kisi na kisi roop mein jawab dete hai, jo bhi mein kr rahi hu Guru Ji to sab dekh rahe hai or isiliye uncle ke through mujhe Guru Ji message krte hai.) “Guru Ji aapke saamne beth ke kho jate hai dukh sare Guru Ji aapke saamne beth ke kho jate hai dukh sare, Aa jate hai Sab Sukh, or nach uthte hai hum sare.” 5 Miracle’s Of Guru Ji • AR Rahman and the Global Routes of Indian Popular Music
BEYOND KITSCH: A. R. RAHMAN AND THE GLOBAL ROUTES OF INDIAN POPULAR MUSIC Stephanie Lou Jackson A Thesis Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF MUSIC August 2010 Committee: David Harnish, Advisor Esther Clinton Jeremy Wallach © 2010 Stephanie Jackson All Rights Reserved iii ABSTRACT David Harnish, Advisor At the 2009 Academy Awards, A. R. Rahman became the first Indian composer to win Best Score and Best Song (“Jai Ho”) for his music in the film, Slumdog Millionaire (2008). This event not only granted Rahman another prestigious accolade for his accomplishments as a popular film music composer (i.e., he has been awarded many times over in India for his music), but it gave Rahman new star-status recognition among a Western audience. Although enormously famous in India and well-known among the South Asian diaspora located throughout many parts of the world, Rahman remained, up until that time, virtually unknown among mainstream U.S. audiences. U.S. audiences today are perhaps more likely than a decade ago to recognize the sounds and images of Indian cinema known as Bollywood, a cultural artifact, once considered “kitsch,” that increasingly traverses international popular cultures. Consequently, the appeal of Rahman’s Bollywood music among a wider global audience (as presented in Slumdog Millionaire) coincides with the global circulation and consumption of Bollywood films and music in recent years. I suggest that the appeal for Rahman’s music outside of India cannot be explained by the Western fascination with the exotic “Other," but instead involves a cultural affinity for a type of style and sound set forth in Rahman’s music.
