Earlier he was Associate Professor in Sociology at University of Jammu and was also Director (I), Ambedkar Studies Centre; He has over fourteen years of teaching experience and has significant publications on the issues related to Social exclusion, Social Justice, Subaltern communities, Land reforms, Democratic decentralization, Identity politics and Globalization in India with specific reference to Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir State. He deals with courses on Indian society, rural studies, classical sociological thinkers, Indian thinkers, peasant movement, social exclusion, sociology of religion.
