The event gives players and their families the chance to network and learn about what to expect playing the next level of hockey. By talking with coaches, organizers, and staff at any time throughout the weekend, we want everyone to obtain valuable information from each other. Not only will this event provide exposure for players, but it will also provide tangible testing results to use to market themselves to junior and college programs. Goaltenders will receive position-specific training from some of the top goaltending coaches in Canada, and players will be able to participate in a college-level practice run by multiple college coaches. Message from Showcase Director: At The RINK MJHL Exposure Showcase and Combine, we’re helping hockey players gather the information they need to make smart, educated decisions about their future as athletes and students. Winnipeg and Manitoba have many young talented hockey players. The Rink team and I intend on helping those players recognize and evaluate their options. We help hockey players get educated about the best possible route for them as individuals. What is right for one family, may not be the best fit for another. When it comes to making important decisions about futures in hockey and education, information and options help you make decisions that you and your family are confident in. Our event is geared not only towards giving players exposure to coaches, but providing players information about education and competition with other elite players. We hope you will make the decision to invest in yourself and your future as a collegiate hockey player by attending our showcase in 2016. About The RINK Training Centre: The RINK Training Centre has established itself as the premier hockey skills training centre in Manitoba – attracting players and goaltenders from all over the province, surrounding areas as well as international players who come to work with our professional instructors. Our offerings include; grass roots instruction, advanced on ice instruction, dryland training, goaltender instruction, boardroom lectures, sport psychology and more. About TESTify Performance: The Rink has teamed with TESTify Performance to provide the type of combine used at the highest levels of hockey to test and compare skills in a tangible way. Registration in our showcase includes an hour-long testing session for each player that will provide results players can use in their hockey resumes for future coaches and teams. Along with providing specific information about their skills, these results allows players to compare their scores and test results with other hockey players, of the same age, across the country. About GDI Goaltending: GDI Goaltending coaches will work with small groups of goalies as part of the Showcase. These sessions will be aimed at not only teaching and improving skills, but also as a way of exposing goalies’ specific skills to the NCAA, junior and college coaches in attendance. Our coaches have over 20 years of experience working with the highest level goalies in Manitoba About the MJHL: The Manitoba Junior Hockey League is the premier Junior A hockey league in Canada. Over the past five years the MJHL has provided hundreds of players with scholarships to both NCAA and CIS schools where they have continued their hockey development. The MJHL exists to develop and advance players to higher levels by providing players with elite hockey development opportunities and a strong emphasis on education and positive citizenship. Currently, there are eleven (11) member franchises in the league. The MJHL is one of ten Junior A hockey leagues in Canada and is a proud member of the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL). Some notable MJHL alumni include Ryan Garbutt, Travis Hamonic, Jason Kasdorf, Andrew Murray, Stephane Pattyn, Joel Messner, Jackson Keane, Brendan Harms, Tyler Jeanson, Brett Orr, Tyler Penner, Dean Stewart and many more. • Jets Squad Prepared for Takeoff Copp Avoids Injury Scare to Play in Opener
Winnipeg Free Press https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/hockey/jets/copp-back-on-ice-jets-face-roster- deadline-this-afternoon-449282993.html Jets squad prepared for takeoff Copp avoids injury scare to play in opener By: Jason Bell Andrew Copp’s lucky break — or lack of one, in this case — had a painful side effect for Kyle Connor. Copp will play tonight in the Winnipeg Jets’ 2017-18 NHL season-opener against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Bell MTS Place. Game time is 6 p.m. (Sportsnet, TSN 1290) The 23-year-old foward who hails from Ann Arbor, Mich., was sidelined for a couple of days with an ailing knee after blocking a cannon off the stick of veteran Flames defenceman Mark Giordano on Saturday night in Calgary. The pain was so intense, Copp couldn’t bear weight on the leg and did his best crab impersonation to crawl off the ice at the Saddledome. But he declared himself fit for battle Tuesday morning following a 70-minute practice at the downtown rink. He took several line rushes with centre Adam Lowry and right-winger Joel Armia and also worked with the penalty-killing unit. The club’s medical staff and head coach Paul Maurice clearly agreed, giving him the green light to join the battle against Auston Matthews and the Leafs. By mid-afternoon, the Jets announced Connor had been dispatched to the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League. "I took a couple of days off just to rest it and the swelling’s gone down a lot, and just feel comfortable, obviously, out there in practice and should be ready to go for the game," Copp said.
