Dress Code

Uniforms promote the sharing of a common outlook, behaviours and attitudes within the school and eliminate unhealthy competition in . They allow students to be recognized for who they are and not for who they appear to be. Parents are expected to support the Fraser Academy by ensuring students have all required uniform items in clean and good repair.

Students are expected to wear their uniform in school at all times. They are to enter and exit the building in their full uniform. Students should leave their uniform intact until they are at least one block from the school.

Mondays are “Formal Dress Days.” Students are required to wear their dress and tie, with long grey pants or tartan kilt/junior skort. Please check the calendar for additional “Formal Dress Days” such as Grandparent Days, picture days, etc. From Tuesday to Friday, students may select their preferred uniform attire.

Note: The 2014/2015 Fraser Academy uniform is grandfathered as meeting the uniform regulations until June 2017.

Uniform Formal dress for girls

• School-monogrammed white long-sleeve oxford • Grey pants with plain black (girls may get these pants altered for better fit) or Knee- length uniform tartan kilt/junior skort (no shorter than 2” above the knee and not to be rolled up)

Formal dress for boys

• School tie • School-monogrammed white long-sleeve oxford shirt • Grey pants with plain black belt

Required

• Black, flat or low-heeled (max. 1” heels), polishable leather dress ; all black ankle dress ; or black casual shoes (white soles are okay). • No army boots, black , suede shoes, or shoes with large buckles • Shoes should be kept clean and polished

Optional dress for students

• Black • School-monogrammed black or burgundy • FA or Mustang branded sweatshirt, zip-up or track • School-monogrammed white short-sleeve • School-monogrammed white short-sleeve fitted oxford blouse • Black twill pants • Grey uniform dress with black belt (Sep to Oct 31 and Spring Break to end of school) • Black skort (no shorter than 4” above the knee and not to be rolled up)’

Please note

• All uniform items should fit the student properly. • Each student should have at least two pairs of pants/kilt/skort and three (at least one formal). • All must be cleaned on a regular basis. • Modesty short must be worn under the kilt. • Grey, white or black dress must be worn with grey pants (no sports logos). • Grey, white or black knee highs or must be worn with kilt or skort. • , and gloves are to be stored in lockers. • Long-sleeve dress shirts may be neatly rolled up to just below the elbow. • “Tom’s” shoes are permitted. • Please label your child’s .

PE Uniform Required items (must be laundered on a regular basis)

• Black shorts (2 pairs) • T-shirt (2) • Appropriate athletic shoes (purchased at a store of your choice)

Optional items (required PE uniform shorts and t-shirt must be worn with these items)

• Black track or rain suit • Students may purchase additional school athletic clothing made by Big Kahuna Sport Company. See the school website to order.

Please Note

• Students may wear their own , sweatshirts and to keep warm.

Casual days

• Fraser Academy has non-uniform days throughout the year. Students will be notified as to the type of dress day and what they will be permitted to wear.
