Happy is the writer who has a steady audience. And more than happy is the writer, whose audience is the whole of a nation. However, there are exception- ally happy writers, whose works are an integral part of world literature. Our great compatriot William Saroyan belongs to the latter group. The works of William Saroyan are a universal human treasure. And there is no people, who has not learned lessons of love of humanity, optimism, and faith from the “Kind Giant.” 2008 is, along with other cultural celebrations, remarkable for the events dedicated to the centenary celebration of Saroyan’s birth.
