My expectations were admittedly high but within the first few pages were definitely exceeded. The hard work and cooperation of so many caring people shine from the pages of this long awaited and classy tribute. Thank you Debra.11 of 11 people found the following review helpful. Masterpiece!!By Chris69I received my book last week and I could not put it down! This is hands down the best book on Sharon Tate! Filled with beautiful pictures, wonderful memories and quotes from friends, and a very loving foreward and quotes from Roman! I hope that Debra writes a second book because I would preorder right this second! Thank you Debra for a beautiful touching tribute to your sister.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Not your average coffee table bookBy Donna Di GiacomoThis coffee table book can be read in one sitting (which is what I did), but it's not a quick, easy read. The depth of the love and respect for and admiration of Sharon demonstrated by so many prominent people was breathtaking and that is something that is still sinking in as I write this.It is a sad fact to have to write that she has now been gone almost twice as long as she was here on this Earth, but her memory is still as fresh half a century later to the people who had the honor and privilege to know her no matter how long or short their friendship or acquaintance.Born a few years after that horrific tragedy in August 1969, I have been able to see during my short lifetime how "the victims" (and I loathe that term) of those nights of carnage have come to the forefront, the media trying to continue suppressing their memories be damned. The families of these people have reclaimed their loved ones' legacies and I say it's LONG overdue.Doris Tate was at the forefront of the victims rights movement in the 1980s until her death in 1992, Patti Tate picked up where her mother left off until her death in 2000, and Debra will continue the fight. But Debra's fight goes beyond the courtroom. With this volume, she has achieved her purpose: To give current and future Sharon fans an intimate look into her life - at the person that she was.It was interesting to see a slew of prominent people saying basically the same thing: Sharon was intelligent, vivacious, in short - not your typical Hollywood starlet. So many people today could stand to take a lesson in humility from this woman - who actually had talent and never let her success overtake her common sense. She seemed a breath of fresh air to people in the 1960s and she remains so today in the pages of her sister's book.I was a Sharon fan before, but it grew a thousand fold after reading this fantastic book. At the risk of sounding cliche, I really feel like I know her now more than ever and mourn for the monumental talent that was stolen from the world in early-August 1969.My favorite parts of the book: Everything Roman wrote about her while my favorite photo was the group photo of her First Holy Communion. Talk about angelic! - Donna Di Giacomo. Considered by many to be the most beautiful woman of her generation, Sharon Tate remains a fascinating pop icon and a poster child for the 1960s. What struck most about Sharon was her gentle nature and the sheer perfection of her face, but she was far more than just a beauty. The few films she made during her brief career, including Valley of the Dolls, Eye of the Devil, and The Fearless Vampire Killers, have secured her position as a Hollywood legend. Over forty years since her last film, Sharon's spirit and charisma lives strong in the memories of those who knew her best, and her style continues to inspire the worlds of fashion, beauty, art, and film.Sharon Tate: Recollection is a one-of-a- kind celebration of Sharon's life and career, her influence as a fashion icon throughout the world, and in effect presents a sociological portrait of the 1960s—its youth culture, the sexual revolution, the rise of independent cinema, and Hollywood's changing studio system. In this impressive photo book, Sharon Tate's story emerges through quotes and short essays—recollections—by her sister, Debra Tate, as well as by those who knew and have been influenced by her. What emerges from these pages is a stunning tribute to an unforgettable life.Highlights include: A foreword note by Sharon's husband Roman Polanski. An introduction and remembrances by Sharon's sister Debra Tate. Previously unseen childhood photos from the Tate family album. Original quotes and recollection essays written specially for this book by , Kelly Osbourne, Bert Stern, Michelle Phillips, Patty Duke, Lee Grant, , , Viva, Tony Scotti and Trina Turk. Retrospective quotes by Truman Capote, Diana Vreeland, Richard Avedon, Dominick Dunne, Warren Beatty, Mia Farrow, Orson Welles, Barbara Parkins, George Harrison, David Niven, Deborah Kerr, Yul Brynner and Kirk Douglas. Rare and classic photographs by David Bailey, Milton Greene, Philippe Halsman, Shahrokh Hatami, Terry O'Neill, Peter Basch, John Engstead, Peter Brüchmann, Neal Barr and Jean Jacques Bugat. Never-before-seen or published images of Sharon in the classic film Valley of the Dolls, digitally reproduced from their original negatives and transparencies specially for this book by the 20th Century Fox archive.

"Tate offers a lovingly crafted biography of her sister, the late actress and fashion icon Sharon Tate. The author delivers a well-done, intimate photo-bio of a budding star that will make readers both angry and sad about Sharon Tate's premature death at the brutal hands of the Manson clan in 1969. Recommended for general readers."--Library Journal“The book is a treasure; the photographs are a trove of fashion's past and a chronicle of times gone by.”--New York Journal of Books
