There are two old inns and a cafe in the village, or, picnic in the car park. 2.15 p.m. Drive to Empshott (2 miles south-east) and view the church (early C13). Drive to Chawton (7 miles north-west). 3.00 p.m. Visit Jane Austen's house in Chawton, where the Curator will give a short introductory talk. 3.45 p.m. Tea available in Chawton village (please pay on the day).
