Toy Train Auction Lot Descriptions March 28, 2015 Toy Train Auction Lot Descriptions March 28, 2015 2001 Lionel postwar 3444 animated Erie gondola car in OB, C8. Box is complete with all flaps. 2002 Lionel postwar 3562-25 gray AT&SF barrel car with 160 bin, packet complete with all accessories, instruction sheet and a 362-75 individual box of six barrels all in OB that has an original cardboard insert, C9. The OB has all flaps attached and is soiled. Also included is a 3359 operating twin bin dump car with a bag of 207 coal and a sealed packet in OB that has an original cardboard insert, C9. The OB has all flaps attached. 2003 Lionel postwar 6415 orange Gulf tank and a 6415 silver Sunoco three-dome tank car both in OBs, C8. The OBs have all flaps attached except for one coupler flap on the 6415 box. 2004 Lionel postwar 6672 Santa Fe refrigerator car with bar end trucks and a 6572 Railway Express Agency refrigerator car with blue lettering and two lines of data both in OBs. The 6672 has never been run, C9 and the 6572 is C8. The 6572 OB has some tape repair. The 6672 box has all flaps attached. 2005 Lionel postwar 682 black steam turbine loco with a 2046W-50 Pennsylvania tender, C7. 2006 Lionel postwar 415 diesel fueling station with a packet, 90 controller and service station pamphlet in OB that has original cardboard inserts and a 455 oil derrick missing the sign and barrels. Accessories are C6. The box for the 415 station is clean and complete with all flaps. 2007 Lionel postwar 3360 Burro crane with an activator track clip in OB, C8. OB has all flaps attached, tape repair and is soiled. 2008 Lionel postwar 3656 orange Lionel Lines operating cattle car with stockyard and three cows. The cattle car is C8 and the stockyard is C5. Also included is a X3472 automatic refrigerated milk car with platform and a box of 3462-70 magnetic milk cans and a X3464 AT&SF operating boxcar with instruction sheet in OB. The milk car is C7 and the platform is C6. The boxcar is C7. The OB for the boxcar has all flaps attached. 2009 Lionel postwar 984 railroad set, circa 1961-62 in OB. The set is complete with all pieces and instruction sheet, C9-10. The OB is complete with all flaps. 2010 Lionel postwar 2348 Minneapolis & St. Louis GP9 diesel with instruction sheet, C7-8. 2011 Lionel postwar 6464-150 Missouri Pacific type IIb boxcar in OB. The car has never been run, C9. The OB is complete with all flaps.One of the flaps has been tape repaired. 2012 Lionel postwar 6464-475 Boston and Maine type IIb boxcar, a 6464-425 New Haven type IIb boxcar and 6464-375 Central of Georgia type IIb in OBs. The 6464-375 is a C6 and the other two are C7-8. The 6464-475 and 6464-375 OBs has all flaps attached and the 6464-425 box is worn. 2013 Lionel postwar 6464-200 Pennsylvania type I boxcar in OB and a 6464-300 Rutland type IIa boxcar, C7-8. The 6464-200 box has all flaps attached, one with tape repair. 2014 Lionel postwar 6464-125 Pacemaker NYC type IIa boxcar and 6464-275 State of Maine type IIa boxcar. Both cars are C7. 2015 Lionel postwar 2245P/2245C Texas Special F3 AB diesel units both in OBs with original cardboard inserts. The B unit is missing one porthole. The AB units are C7. The OBs have all flaps attached. 2016 Lionel postwar 6560-25 operating Bucyrus Erie work crane with a red cab in OB that has an original cardboard insert. The crane car has been test run, C9. Also included is a 6467 miscellaneous car in OB, C8. The OBs have all flaps attached. 2017 Lionel postwar 2343C Santa Fe F3 B unit with louvered roof vents in OB that has original cardboard insert and paper wrap, C7. The OB has all flaps attached except for one detached end flap. 2018 Lionel postwar 3494-1 Pacemaker NYC operating boxcar and a 3484 Pennsylvania operating boxcar, C8. Toy Train Auction Lot Descriptions March 28, 2015 2019 Lionel postwar 400 Baltimore & Ohio Budd RDC-1 passenger car in OB with original cardboard insert and paper wrap. Except a couple of tiny nicks on the roof, car is C8. The OB is sealed on one end and has all flaps attached on the other end. 2020 Lionel postwar 2550 Baltimore & Ohio Budd RDC-4 baggage/passenger car in OB, C8. The OB has all flaps attached and has some soiling on one end. 2021 Lionel postwar 6446-25 black Norfolk and Western covered quad hopper and a 6436-25 maroon Lehigh Valley quad hopper both in OBs, C7-8. The 6446-25 box has all flaps attached and the 6436-25 box has some tape repair and is missing one interior flap. Also included is a 6346-56 gray Alcoa covered quad hopper and a 6446 gray Norfolk and Western covered quad hopper. The roof on the 6446 hopper has some discoloration. The hoppers are C6-7. 2022 Lionel postwar 282 portal gantry crane with black Bucyrus Erie cab and 282C controller missing the wire and 164 log loader. The accessories are C6-7. 2023 Lionel postwar 1656 black 0-4-0 steam switcher with a 6403B slope-back tender. The loco and tender have surface oxidation. Loco and tender are C6. 2024 Lionel postwar 6556 The Katy MKT stock car in a worn OB. The car has never been run. The underside of the base has some spots of surface oxidation. The car body is C9. 2025 Lionel postwar 2365 Chesapeake & Ohio GP7 diesel in OB, C8. The OB is clean with all flaps attached. 2026 Lionel postwar 6456 harder to find version red enamel Lehigh Valley hopper with yellow lettering, 6456 maroon Lehigh Valley hopper and a 6456 gray Lehigh Valley hopper and one 6456 original box only. The red hopper is C6, The gray hopper is C7 and the maroon hopper is C8. The OB is complete with all flaps attached. Also included are two custom made coal loads for the hoppers. 2027 Lionel postwar 221 gray steam loco with a 221W New York Central tender. The loco is C8. Both decals on the tender are fully intact and there is a spot of paint loss on the front of the tender, otherwise tender is C8. 2028 Lionel postwar accessories; six 260 illuminated bumpers, three with instruction sheets in OBs, 148 dwarf signal with packet containing a lockon in OB with original paper wrap and two type L.T.C lockons with lights, one with instruction sheet in OBs. The bumpers and dwarf signal are C8. The lockons have surface corrosion. 2029 Lionel postwar three 6430 flatcars, two with two gray Cooper Jarrett Inc. trailers and one with white Cooper Jarrett Inc. trailers all in OBs, C7-8. One set of the gray Cooper Jarrett Inc. Trailers have FRUEHAUF stickers on one end. The OBs have all flaps attached, except for two interior flaps which are detached but included. 2030 Lionel postwar 2349 Northern Pacific GP9 diesel in OB with display panel, C8. The OB has all flaps attached and the display panel is intact. 2031 Lionel postwar no. 950 U.S. Railroad map, circa 1958-66 in cardboard tube. The edges are frayed on one end of the map and there is a small tear in one of the upper corners. The color graphics are clean. 2032 Lionel postwar freight set no. 2111WX, circa 1946 in original set box. The individual component boxes are missing. The set contains a 671 black steam loco, 2466W tender, 3459 dark green operating dump car, 2411 flatcar with three metal pipes, 2460 black Bucyrus Erie twelve-wheel crane car and a 2420 gray D.L. & W. work caboose with searchlight. The steps on the 2411 are broken. The engine, tender and 2411 flatcar are C6. The crane, dump and caboose are C7. The set box is missing one interior flap and has damage on one corner. Label is mostly intact. 2033 Lionel postwar 6517-75 Erie bay window caboose, circa 1966 in cellophane front OB, C8. The OB has all flaps attached and the cellophane front is intact. Toy Train Auction Lot Descriptions March 28, 2015 2034 Lionel postwar 2333 New York Central F3 power A diesel unit with screen roof vents, C7-8. 2035 Lionel postwar 2344C New York Central F3 dummy B unit with louvered roof vents. Unit is C7. 2036 Lionel postwar Scout freight set no. 1115, circa 1949 in individual OBs. The set includes; 1110 black steam loco, 1001T tender, 1002 black gondola, 1005 gray Sunoco tank, 1007 red caboose and a 1011 25-watts transformer missing the cord. The tender is C5. The rest of the set is C6-7. The OBs are worn and missing some flaps. 2037 Lionel postwar aluminum passenger cars in OBs that have original cardboard inserts including; 2530 Railway Express Agency baggage with glued on nameplates, 2534 Silver Bluff Pullman with nameplates affixed with round head screws, 2533 Silver Cloud Pullman with nameplates affixed with round head screws, 2532 Silver Range vista dome with nameplates affixed with hex head screws and a 2531 Silver Dawn observation with glued on nameplates. The cars should clean to C6-7. The OBs have most all flaps attached. 2038 Lionel postwar 646 black steam loco with a 2046W Lionel Lines tender, C8. 2039 Lionel postwar 3370 animated sheriff and outlaw car with instruction sheet and a 3376 blue operating giraffe car with white lettering, instruction sheet and packet containing pole with tell-tales and original cardboard ring both in OBs.

Lewis President Directors Dave Bashline John Basile Randy Berger Rod Cornell John DeSantis Martin Fasack Dave McEntarfer Peter Primiani TIES Editor John Basile TRACKS Editor Martin Fasack THE IVES TANK CAR PRESIDENT’S COLUMN By: John Gray I-6662 By: Don Lewis (COVER ILLUSTRATION) It was not until 1906 that IVES introduced a line of freight cars to its 1 gauge toy train selection; however for some reason they did not appear in the IVES catalogue until 1910. They were numbered the 70-Series freight cars, and yet no tank cars accompanied them. In 1915 Ives remodeled its outdated 70-Series freight cars, and numbered them the 7000-Series, which included the new 7849 tank car. This new line of No.1 Gauge freight cars were the most prototypical of any toy trains being produced at that time. The IVES 7849 tank car was the most interesting of the new line; it included embossed rivets, a center dome with a fill, an attached vent pipe, a walkway around the tank body, and an air tank suspended underneath from a metal strip to which were also attached the wheel trucks. A ratchet brake wheel was also mounted at one end of the tank, which very much enhanced its appearance. But the most unusual feature of the 7849 tank car was the ladders, positioned at all four corners, just above the trucks, and soldered to the walkway. The tank was lettered "TEXAS OIL" on the sides, with the number "7849" appearing at each end. This series of freight cars also had the new "automatic couplers." The tank car was 11 inches long.

Significance: The patent-stone ashlar building was the first factory in the United States built for the sole purpose of making toy trains. Ives was the largest producer of electric trains in this country for almost ten years, manufacturing the first "O" gauge trains in America to run on fabricated sectional track. The company had a reputation for high standards, living up to the slogan "Ives Toys Make Happy Boys." Project Information: Current development plans call for the building to be demolished to make way for expansion by a neighboring manufacturer and an enlarged parking lot. HAER documentation of the Ives Toy Factory was requested by the Connecticut Historical Commission in 1996, prior to demolition of the building. The structure was inspected in February 1997.
