A sojourn in jail and a trip to Nigeria among other tasks have kept be behind. When I solicited your help for our struggle almost two months ago, I did not ex- pect so creative and fulsome a response. All of us are inspired by your wondei-ful support and the Committee is busily engaged in the preparations forJanuary 27th. I hope I can convey our appreciation to you with the warmth which we feel it. In the midst of one of my usual crowded sojourns in New York, I had the op- portunity to hear the play, “Kicks and Co.” by Oscar Brown at the invitation of the Nemiroffs, at whose home I have previously been a guest.2 I learned of your in- terest in it and I am deeply pleased.

  • 1974 Tour with the Band
BOB DYLAN / THE BAND (a collectors guide to the 74 Tour) BOB DYLAN / THE BAND - a collectors guide to the 74 Tour “There are two problems with the 1974 tour: the tapes are crap and Dylan‟s performances are crap.” – C. Heylin, Telegraph 32 pg 86. Introduction This booklet / File (like the anonymous companion volume “Songs of the Underground” for RTR) is intended to document the audio resources available to collectors concerning the 1974 tour with the Band. It is intended to supplement and possibly correct the three major resources available to collectors (Krogsgaard, Dundas & Olof‟s files). Several PA tapes have emerged since Krogsgaard was last updated, and (I believe) there are errors in Dundas (concerning the PA tapes from 11 Feb 1974) that I wished to address. Additionally, none of these references (except for one full listing in Krogsgaard) include the Band sets. While details are difficult to obtain, I have included details of about three- quarters of the Band sets. It is hoped that readers on the web may contribute more information. I believe that the Band was a significant contributor to the 1974 Tour and should be included in any 1974 Tour documentation. I have also identified the sources for the Vinyl and CD bootlegs, where my resources allowed. Often the attributions on Bootlegs are misleading, incomplete or wrong. As an example „Before and After the Flood‟ claims to be from MSG NYC 30.1.1974 when it is actually a combination of the PA tapes from 31.1.74 (evening) and 11.2.74 (evening).

He took a chance on me and endured some of my roughest stories, especially during my first semester, where I realized that I had a lot of work to do. He was instrumental in my growth as a reader and writer. Warmest thanks to Robert Pope, professor emeritus from the University of Akron. He is, without question, one of happiest professors and individuals I have ever known. His contagious personality and encouragement went a long way in my first few semesters, as well as his honest feedback and suggestions. He once said I wrote a “beautiful essay” about a story we had read, and that comment meant so much. He has meant so much. Warmest thanks Eric Wasserman, professor at the University of Akron, as well as my thesis director.

Chapter 4, 1983 “Come on, Charlie. It’s closing time,” Jack said. “Those beers at O’Neil’s aren’t going to drink themselves. I have a sixteen16 ounce tip-cup filled with quarters. There must be $30 in here. Let’s go.” “OkOkay, Jack. Be cool. We going. I don’t understand you anyway, boy. What you doin’ drinking with a bunch of old black men every night, anyway? You should be out chasing high school girls, boy. Should be hanging out with kids your own age. Not that I mind you comin with us.” “It’s kind of hard to chase high school girls when you don’t know any of them and smell like a car wash. Besides, Charlie, did you ever notice that I don’t go to high school?” Commented [HS1]: Mississippi passed a compulsory education law in 1982 that said all children under 16 must th attend school. Now, his foster family could ignore this, but “Oh man! Jack, I’m from Biloxi, Mississippi. I don’t go past ninth 9 grade. Don’t stop me. Your I just thought I should make note of it. age? Oh boy! Shit! I think I had two kids, by your age. Look man! I know why I go drinking every night. What about you?” “What about me? Why do you go drinking every night?” “Do you know where I live, Jack? I live in the Cabrini–Green project. I gotta be drunk to deal with all that shit. Damn police won’t even go in on a dare.
