9 Team 1st XI

Captain Ben Harris Vice-Captain Joe Barrs Review of season Ultimately it’s been a successful season for the First XI as retaining our premier league status is an obvious achievement and that is where this great club which has lots of history belongs. I personally had a goal for us to win eight games and to win 6/7 (depending on tomorrow’s ) is satisfactory. There have been some brilliant moments this season but the highlight has to be beating Swardeston at home for the first time for over ten years. That also shows us as a side that on our day we can beat anyone in this league which should give us a lot of confidence going into next season. For a lot of the lads including myself it was our first real taste of premier league cricket so to hold our own against some that have played professional cricket before and the majority are Minor county cricketers is really encouraging and we’re looking forward to seeing how we do next season.

Team 2nd XI

Captain Luke Ormsby Vice-Captain Josh Down and Ray Mordini 2019 was a tremendous season in the 2’s, full of great wins, close defeats and a lot of laughs along the way. This all culminated in a 4th place finish which, on reflection, is a fair assessment of how we played. We started the season with a bang reeling off three wins, beating league winners Stamford and perennial bogey team Ufford Park. A close loss to St Ives at home in our next game, we reduced them to 105-7 chasing 225, exposed our main weakness as a side. We struggled to bowl teams out, due to lack of fire power with the ball, and it certainly cost us on a few occasions throughout the season. We probably would have been promoted otherwise. A final standing of won 10, lost 7, abandoned 1 is not to be sniffed at and we only finished 34 points (effectively one maximum points win) off top spot. There were lots of good days. Many contributed memorable performances. Mihir Chandraker and Micky Wallis were centurions during the season (Dan Cummins went close with 95*). Liam Mays, Josh Down, Dan Cummins and Luke Ormsby took five wickets too. Special mention must go to Dan Cummins, who was our top run scorer (471) and top wicket taker (23).I would like to thank the 33 individuals who represented the 2’s this season, you’re all top blokes and your commitment over the summer was first class. Regardless of the result, every game produced many laughs. Cricket is supposed to be fun and I hope you all enjoyed the season. We are well placed for another promotion push in 2020, recharge the batteries over the winter, and I look forward to doing it all over again next season!

11 Team 3rd XI

Captain Duncan Pluck Vice-Captain Review of season. A fruedstrating year for the 3rd XI that saw 3 games lost to the weather and 2 games conceded, which result in only 12 games being played. However this did not detract from some enjoyable games and it was pleasing to see some younger talent, namely Arthur Jones, Henry Rodda and Taegan Chapman all make telling contributions and establishing themselves in the team. The old guard of Mordini, Skingley and Buck also played their respective parts!!!

Captain Tony Wiseman Vice-Captain Toby Montague Review of season A tough season trying to put out 5 sides. Ollie Rae outstanding with Bat and Ball. Ollie, Henry Wiseman, Alex Peirson and Taegan Chapman are all ready to move on to a higher standard of cricket. The Oldies played their part but the bodies are becoming frail. Amber Mays had a good season with the ball, good variation and not scared to flight it up. Only 11 games played, not enough.

Team 5 XI

Captain Tom Rodda Vice-Captain Review of season A successful season for the 5th XI in between rained off games and cancellations. The intention was to introduce as many under 13’s cricketers to men’s cricket and this was achieved by playing 13 different boys. In each game the average amount of under 13’s was 8! Probably already the best bowling team in the league batting was restricted by strength. Assemble this team again in 7 years and there won’t be many teams that could live with them!

Team Adams Harrison Midweek League

Captain Vice-Captain Manager Toby Montague Review of season First year in the league for our development side, which we won. We also made it through to the semis of the league cup and were unlucky to come second. Lots of opportunities taken by all and we were lucky to have the likes of Ben Harris, Regis, Ryan Deamer, Finn, Mihir and Dan at times to share their knowledge with the academy players. The skipper couldn’t get a game and managed only 1! Credit to Liam Mays for some excellent bowling and to the young keeper Taegan who was also excellent, and their attitude on the pitch should be admired by all their peers.

Team U19s

Captain Tom Pluck, Tom Baldwin Vice-Captain Bertie Scott Review of season U19 x 3, U18 x 7, U17 x 2, U16 x 5, U15 x 3, U14 x 3. 23 played SWCC U19 this season….And with only a few U19s over the hill for next year, this Team has mooooooooooore in the tank. Two home games, seven away. Finally at the Essex County Ground v Colchester & East Essex CC. CEECC 135 for 6 off 20, SWCC 134 ao off 20. One more run and the game was going to a super over. Essex has never seen a Final like it they say. SWCC U19 played brilliantly, the best this season. You were there and you did it proud. Well that was fun. Was it? No. Yes. Yes it was… and the records continued to tumble
