ANIMAL KINGDOM pulled his way along and angled in to save ground, bumped with MOONLIGHT CLOUD (GB) and steadied early on the backstretch, moved up along the rail on the second turn, lacked room off heels from upper stretch to past midstretch, split rivals in deep stretch and surged between horses to gain the place. OBVIOUSLY (IRE) sped to the early lead, angled in and set the pace inside then a bit off the rail on the backstretch and second turn, angled back to the fence in the stretch, fought back through the final furlong, could not match the winner late and was edged for the place. EXCELEBRATION (IRE) stalked outside a rival then between foes on the backstretch and second turn, came out in the stretch and finished willingly but was edged for the show. MR. COMMONS saved ground stalking the pace, moved up inside leaving the second turn and into the stretch, continued along the rail and lacked the needed late kick. JERANIMO angled in and settled off the pace inside, came out into the stretch and could not offer the necessary rally. SUGGESTIVE BOY (ARG) turned his head and hopped slightly to be off a bit slow, pulled his way along three deep then stalked off the rail, continued outside the winner leaving the second turn, was fanned out four wide into the stretch and weakened. MOONLIGHT CLOUD (GB) chased outside a rival, went up three deep and bumped with ANIMAL KINGDOM early on the backstretch, brushed with WILCOX INN midway on the backstretch, went four wide into the second turn, angled in alongside a rival on that turn and did not rally. WILLCOX INN chased outside a rival then was in tight between foes midway on the backstretch brushing with MOONLIGHT CLOUD, went three wide on the second turn, came out into the stretch and weakened. 2nd Place horse sold through Keeneland Association, Inc. • Nick Smith Animal Kingdom
I have an excellent advisor in the U.S. in HRTV=s Stephen Nagler, and he and the International Racing Bureau are contracted to Ascot to set up meetings, and put me in front of owners and trainers who have expressed an interest, either at dinner or at the track, whatever suits them. I also want to discuss the Shergar Cup with Gary Stevens and Rosie Napravnik. I spoke to Rosie about being on this year=s girls= team at the Woodbine Mile in Nick Smith, the Head of Communications and September and want to follow that up. She is a star. International Racing at Ascot Racecourse in the UK, is preparing to embark on a three week international tour TDN: Are there any specific American horses you are to promote Ascot Racecourse--specifically Royal Ascot, targeting to attend this year=s Royal Ascot meeting? the G1 Betfair King George, and QIPCO British Champions Day--to horsemen worldwide. Smith will be NS: Obviously number one on anyone=s list would be in the U.S. from today through Feb. 11, and the TDN Animal Kingdom. I spoke to Barry Irwin briefly in sat down with him to find out what his plans are and Melbourne in November, and Graham Motion has been what Ascot has to offer. making encouraging noises. It=s early days, but I=ll be TDN: Can you describe the purpose of your visit to following that up. He could run in the Queen Anne over America, and what you hope to achieve? a mile or the Prince of Wales=s S.
