20 Country Local Government Fund Projects Approved

1. ADSL2 Capability Applicant: Dryandra Voluntary Regional Organisation of Councils (Dryandra VROC (shires of Wandering, Cuballing, Narrogin, Wickepin and Town of Narrogin) Region: Wheatbelt Funding: $90,000 Project Description: Upgrade of Telstra infrastructure to enable ADSL2 capability through the Wandering Shire exchange.

2. Wheatbelt East Multi-purpose Housing Project Applicant: Wheatbelt East Regional Organisation of Councils (shires of Kellerberrin, Bruce Rock and Merredin) Region: Wheatbelt Funding: $1,086,839 Project Description: Construction of multi-purpose housing in Bruce Rock (1 x 3 bed), Kellerberrin (1 x 3 bed) and Merredin (2 x 3 bed).

3. NEWROC Universally Designed Accommodation Applicant: North East Wheatbelt Regional Organisation of Councils (NEWROC) (Shires of Koorda, Mt Marshall, Mukinbudin, Nungarin, Trayning and Wyalkatchem) Region: Wheatbelt Funding: $2,205,781 Project Description: Construction of new universally designed accommodation consisting of 10 units in three towns - Koorda (three), Mukinbudin (four) and Mt Marshall (three).

4. Dryandra Regional Equestrian Centre Applicant: Dryandra VROC (shires of Cuballing, Wickepin, Wandering, Narrogin and Town of Narrogin) Region: Wheatbelt Funding: $317,206 Project Description: Construction of clubrooms, fencing and retaining walls at the park.

5. ROE ROC Residential Subdivision Development - Narembeen Applicant: ROE Regional Organisation of Councils (shires of Narembeen, Corrigin, Kondinin and Kulin) Region: Wheatbelt Funding: $641,000 Project Description: Subdivision of Lot 900, Brown Street, Narembeen into 11 serviced lots of up to a quarter acre in size.

6. Narrogin Heavy Haulage Bypass - Wanerie Road Extension Applicant: Dryandra VROC (shires of Narrogin, Cuballing, Wandering, Wickepin and Town of Narrogin) Region: Wheatbelt Funding: $135,000 Project Description: Construction of heavy haulage bypass to improve access for heavy vehicles to existing rural industries on Wanerie Road. Stage One addresses the design specifications for the road.

7. Wheatbelt Heritage Rail Project Applicant: Avon Regional Organisation of Councils (shires of Dowerin, Goomalling, Victoria Plains, Chittering and Northam) Region: Wheatbelt Funding: $1,250,000 Project Description: Development of a themed rail heritage town with a heritage rail centre at Minnivale, an operational running line benefiting the Avon Region. Infrastructure work will occur in Stage One.

8. Rural Repopulation Pilot Project - Provision of Housing Applicant: Central Midlands Voluntary Regional Organisation of Councils (shires of Dalwallinu, Moora and Wongan-Ballidu) Region: Wheatbelt Funding: $440,000 Project Description: Construction of two houses (3 x 1) on two lots in Dalwallinu to enable the relocation of rural families.

9. Seal Yalgoo and Morawa roads Applicant: Yalgoo Morawa Road Liaison (shires of Yalgoo and Morawa) Region: Mid-West Funding: $421,524 Project Description: Sealing of four kilometres of the Morawa to Yalgoo roads.

10. Town Revitalisation Project - Mullewa Applicant: City of Greater Geraldton (former City of Geraldton-Greenough and former Shire of Mullewa) Region: Mid-West Amount Sought: $88,326 Project Description: Restore and maintain the integrity of two community buildings - Mullewa Recreation Centre and Mullewa Town Hall.

11. Perenjori Early Childhood Centre Applicant: North Midlands Group (shires of Perenjori, Mingenew, Morawa and Three Springs) Region: Mid-West Funding: $400,000 Project Description: Construction of an early childcare centre adjacent to the Perenjori Primary School.

12. Mullewa Swimming Pool (Stage 3) Applicant: City of Greater Geraldton (former City of Geraldton-Greenough and former Shire of Mullewa) Region: Mid-West Funding: $150,459 Project Description: Refurbishment of change rooms, first aid room, kiosk/entry area, CCTV and shade structure.

13. Wonthella Sporting Oval Lighting Project Applicant: City of Greater Geraldton (former City of Geraldton-Greenough and former Shire of Mullewa) Region: Mid-West Funding: $229,141

2 Project Description: Provision of lighting at Wonthella Sporting Oval to a competition standard lighting for football, cricket and potentially various other night time sports, with potential to hold major events.

14. Derna Parade Park Redevelopment Applicant: City of Greater Geraldton (former City of Geraldton-Greenough and former Shire of Mullewa) Region: Mid-West Funding: $542,620 Project Description: Development of a new district park, which will incorporate informal and formal sport activities, picnic facilities, barbecue facilities, public toilets, play and fitness equipment all incorporating safe access and water wise principles.

15. Foreshore Toilets Applicant: City of Greater Geraldton (former City of Geraldton-Greenough and former Shire of Mullewa) Region: Mid-West Funding: $250,000 Project Description: Provision of public toilets at the northern (Forrest Street) end of the recently redeveloped town foreshore.

16. Myrup Truck Wash & Liquid Waste Facility Applicant: Goldfields-Esperance Voluntary Regional Organisation of Councils (City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, shires of Esperance, Coolgardie, Dundas, Leonora and Menzies) Region: Goldfields-Esperance Funding: $350,000 Project Description: Expansion of existing Myrup Truck Wash at Lot 1885 Myrup Road in the to include a 26,000sqm evaporation pond, facultative ponds and associated infrastructure.

17. Junction Town Revitalisation Project Applicant: Shires of Upper Gascoyne, Meekatharra and Murchison Region: Gascoyne Funding: $1,536,320 Project Description: Development of the Gascoyne Junction Town Centre. Funds will be used for road works, sewerage and plumbing, unmanned retail fuel outlet, caravan park ablutions, staff accommodation and manager’s residence.

18. Regional Landfill and Transfer Stations Applicant: Eastern Agricultural Strategic Waste Management Alliance (shires of Jerramungup, Katanning, Kent, Ravensthorpe and Gnowangerup) Region: Great Southern Funding: $1,343,250 Project Description: Development of two regional landfill sites across the region to ensure compliance with the Environmental Protection (Rural Landfill) Regulations 2002.

3 Applicant: Regional Leaders Forum (shires of Boddington, Murray, Serpentine-Jarrahdale and Waroona, and Peel Development Commission) Region: Peel Funding: $500,000 Project Description: Construction of a lifestyle village in Boddington, consisting of four two and three-bedroom affordable units for eligible residents aged over 55.

20. Peel Tourism Signage Strategy Applicant: Peel Regional Leaders Forum (City of Mandurah and shires of Waroona, Murray, Boddington and Serpentine Jarrahdale) Region: Peel Funding: $1,104,895 Project Description: Introduction of new tourism signage throughout the Peel region to reinforce the Peel regional brand.

1. New Premises for Disability in the Arts – Wangaree Community Centre Applicant: Coastal Alliance (Shires of Gingin and Dandaragan) Region: Wheatbelt Funding: $502 000 Project description: Construction of a community centre in Lancelin with Disability in the Arts and Disabled in the Arts.

2. Narrogin Town Hall Upgrade (Stage 3) Applicant: Dryandra VROC (Shires of Cuballing, Narrogin, Wandering, Wickepin and Town of Narrogin) Region: Wheatbelt Funding: $350 000 Project description: Restoration of the regionally important town hall, located within the Narrogin town site.

3. Kondinin and Kulin Tourism Development Applicant: Roe ROC (Shires of Kondinin, Kulin, Corrigin and Narembeen) Region: Wheatbelt Funding: $850 503 Project description: Upgrade of the Kondinin caravan park, tourist precincts in Kondinin and Kulin and the Kulin Visitor Discovery Zone.

4. Narrogin Regional Leisure Centre Upgrade Stage 2 Applicant: Dryandra VROC (Town of Narrogin and the Shires of Cuballing, Narrogin, Wandering and Wickepin) Region: Wheatbelt Funding: $420 000 Project description: Installation of additional solar power generation and solar hot water for change room showers and replacement of one of the original sports courts.

5. Granite Way – Development Project Applicant: Wheatbelt East ROC (Shires of Bruce Rock, Kellerberrin and

4 Merredin) Region: Wheatbelt Funding: $250 000 Project description: Development of picnic and camping sites at Mt Caroline, Mt Stirling and Kokerbin Rock of the Granite Way. This is the second stage of a two stage project.

6. Waste Transfer Stations Applicant: Dryandra VROC (Shires of Wickepin, Cuballing, Narrogin, Wandering and the Town of Narrogin) Region: Wheatbelt Funding: $483 349 Project description: Install regional waste transfer stations at Wandering, Harrismith, Tincurrin and Yealering Refuse Sites.

Digital TV Rebroadcasting Service Applicant: Coastal Group (Shires of Dandaragan and Gingin) Region: Wheatbelt Funding: $277 000 Project description: Construct digital TV transmitters at Jurien Bay and Cervantes to establish a free to air digital television rebroadcasting service. 8. Health Professionals Housing Applicant: Warren Blackwood Strategic Alliance (Shires of Bridgetown- Greenbushes, Manjimup and Nannup Region: South West Funding: $50 000 Project description: Construction of three accommodation units for health professionals on the Manjimup Health Campus in the town of Manjimup. This is the second stage of a three-stage project.

9. Safe Coronation Road Connection Applicant: Peel Region Leaders Forum (Shires of Boddington, Murray, Serpentine-Jarrahdale, Waroona and City of Mandurah) Region: Peel Funding: $557 000 Project description: Widening and upgrading the Coronation bridge to provide a safer access road.

10. Upgrade of Coastal Tourism Locations and Selected Roadside Rest Stops Applicant: Regional Council (Shires of Ashburton, East Pilbara, Roebourne and ) Region: Pilbara Funding: $3 714 103 Project description: Upgrading of roadside stops to improve facilities at priority locations along the major inland and coastal roads.

Increasing Tourism Capacity in Denmark – Infrastructure Upgrades Applicant: Albany-Denmark Alliance ( and ) Region: Great Southern Funding: $857 636 Project description: Improvement of facilities in the Denmark town site to increase the capacity of the region to cater for visitors and tourists.

Great Southern Centennial Park (Phase 1) Applicant: Lower Great Southern Region (City of Albany and Shire of Denmark) Region: Great Southern Funding: $608 000 Project description: Upgrading of the Centennial Park facilities to assist with tourism related infrastructure and provide opportunities for recreational and community use. This is also to support the forthcoming ANZAC centenary events. Phase one of a five- phase project.

13. Stormwater Harvesting Project Applicant: Southern Link VROC (Shires of Broomehill–Tambellup, Plantagenet, Kojonup and Cranbrook) Region: Great Southern Region Funding: $662 860 Project description: Stormwater harvesting projects to improve stormwater capture in the Shires of Broomehill-Tambellup, Kojonup, Cranbrook and Plantagenet.
