Monsieur Jean Dujardin To: all the FMNs and CONUs cc.: the CCR Members DORNA, IRTA & MSMA 21 December 2017 C/014/2017bis CCR Annual licences for permanent riders participating in the 2018 FIM Grand Prix World Championships (Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP) Dear President, Dear Secretary General, We have pleasure in reminding you that, in accordance with the decision taken by the 2016 FIM General Assembly in Berlin, the circuit racing GP riders will be ordering their 2018 and future FIM licences through the intermediary of their FMNs. You will find attached the provisional list of riders who will participate in the 2018 FIM Grand Prix World Championships. To iron out a number of problems that arose with the initial change of procedure, and to ensure that the GP licence ordering process is as easy and transparent as possible, we set out a number of key points below for your attention: MotoGP riders will benefit from insurance covering them for GP and IRTA tests. It is therefore not necessary for the FMN to provide insurance cover for these riders for their participation in the FIM GP World Championships. GP licenses will be charged to the FMNs at the price of 1'200 Euros. They may not be billed to GP riders at a higher price. The FIM does not oblige a GP rider to hold a national licence. However a mandatory application for a national licence through the concerned FMN is reserved (depending inter alia on the national legislation applicable). National Federations issuing these GP licences will be exempted from their obligation to ensure that the riders and their doctor have duly completed and signed Appendices A and B of the FIM Medical Code. Please bear in mind that the GP season kicks off with testing from early February. In order to avoid unnecessary stress, we therefore recommend that riders’ requests be handled expeditiously. In the particular case of a last minute change of rider(s) within a team (injury, etc.), IRTA will be authorised to issue "one event" licenses on behalf of the FIM and its affiliated federations. Where such a licence is issued, the FMN concerned will of course be informed. The procedure for ordering GP licences remains the same as for all the other FIM Riders’ Licences. The application is available on the member area of the FIM Website or at the following link: User's Guide FIM Riders' Licences Should you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact our “Licences” Department. We truly hope that this new procedure will strengthen the links between the elite MotoGP riders and their FMNs. We wish you all the best for the New Year and a successful 2018 season. Yours sincerely, Fabio MUNER Sports Director Enclosure: Press Release Regarding the Provisional List of GP Riders for the 2018 Season 11 ROUTE DE SUISSE TEL +41 22 950 95 00 CH – 1295 MIES FAX +41 22
