PUBLIC NOTICE Disc Golf Course – Edgewater Park, Mount Vernon 6/17/19 Mount Vernon Parks and Enrichment Services is pleased to announce the opening of the new 18 hole disc golf course at Edgewater Park in Mount Vernon. It is a free course and ready for disc golfers of all ages to enjoy. This amazing course was designed and built by a collaboration of dedicated volunteers and City staff. They includes Quientin Sutter and members of the Skagit Valley Disc Golf Club, Danny Pickering and members of the Mount Vernon Parks Foundation, Detective Dave Shackleton of the Mount Vernon Police Department and James Weppler and crew with the Mount Vernon Parks Department. You can become familiar with the course layout via a disc golf course app called UDisc. Downloadable from iTunes and Play Stores, as well as by following the web link: https://udisc.com/. On June 29th the course will be closed for public play while our first organized disc golf tournament takes place. We do encourage the public and anyone interested in disc golf to come on out to observe and interact with competitive disc golfers from around the Northwest Region. We will also have a temporary closure of the course from July 3rd – 15th while various city special events take place at Edgewater Park. We hope you and your family are able to come out this summer and enjoy this wonderful addition to Edgewater Park. Please contact Mount Vernon Parks and Enrichment Services with any questions. Tee is on the Left side of the road. This is a slightly elevated tee, with several tight turns and trees on both sides of the fairway. Two tees and two basket placements, par 4. ALTERNATE Hole #2: Tight straight wooded fairway along a stone wall, with a sharp right turn to the green. Short basket placement is elevated. Two tees and two basket placements, par 3 (201’/250’). ALTERNATE Hole #3: Wooded fairway plays over a slight hill and turns left to the green. Two tees and two basket placements, par 3. ALTERNATE Hole #4: Wooded fairway turns sharp left to the short basket placement, with a longer, slower left turn to the long placement. Two tees and two basket placements, par 3 (160’/246’). Partnership to Support Women in Disc Golf and Raise Money for Women’s Initiatives October 1, 2018 -- Milpitas CA. It’s October and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and to kick things off, ZÜCA and Throw Pink are announcing a partnership for the next year that will provide ZÜCA Cart sponsorship opportunities for Throw Pink events. This partnership with Throw Pink is the first ongoing ZÜCA program in disc golf that specifically supports women. Through ZÜCA’s program, approved Throw Pink events will be able to purchase an Anaconda/Pink ZÜCA cart with a “sponsorship” discount. Events will be able to provide a ZÜCA cart as a tournament prize or add a high-ticket raffle item to their fundraiser. “ZÜCA has supported fundraisers in the past with our non-profit purchasing program, and we are excited about expanding our support to include Throw Pink events,” says Jennifer Apy, ZÜCA representative. “ZÜCA has found ways to support women’s initiatives for over 10 years, and by partnering with Throw Pink, we’ll be able to provide ongoing support for women in disc golf.” Throw Pink encourages women to get more involved in the sport of disc golf. The purpose of this thesis is to build an iOS disc golf application for that. The intended application can be used for locating courses, looking course details with current weather and course map, navigating to the course, keeping track of scores, in- course navigation, looking completed games and statistics. The scorekeeping supports multiple players with real-time synchronization between devices. The thesis gives an overview of user research, existing solutions, application’s analysis, design, development, and distribution. As a result of this thesis, the iOS disc golf application is created, featuring all the required functionality. The application will be available on the iOS App Store for free.
