Each year, 1,200 alumni, family, and friends return to Old South Mountain to reconnect with each other and with beloved Lehigh. A renewed sense of Lehigh pride is instilled as attendees reflect back on their memories and experience on campus and learn more about how current-day faculty, staff, and alumni are impacting the world. Reunion class leaders like you help make the reunion celebration extra special for fellow classmates by engaging peers to connect with Lehigh in a variety of meaningful ways. By encouraging your classmates to “come back” to campus and to “give back” to your alma mater, you and your fellow alumni ensure a unforgettable, successful reunion celebration, while preserving the hallmark Lehigh experience for future generations of students. This handbook outlines essential information to help you develop and implement a stellar reunion. We hope you enjoy your volunteer experience, and we look forward to partnering with you in the months ahead. With Gratitude, Meghan Wolf ’02 ’03 Susan Lopez Director Director Reunion Giving Traditional Programs alum.lu/comeback give.lu/giveback 3 The Importance of Alumni Volunteers Your volunteer involvement is an integral part of the university’s outreach efforts. Volunteers are able to personalize messages, increase the number of alumni contacted, and provide Lehigh with important insight regarding their classmates. This volunteer experience provides you with the opportunity to connect with classmates and gain an insider’s view of the university today. The Alumni Relations team is committed to making your volunteer experience successful and will provide resources to assist you with your outreach. Your Role as a Volunteer • Lead by example by making a personally meaningful gift to Lehigh, while encouraging classmates to do the same • Help maximize the Reunion Class Gift Campaign and Alumni Weekend attendance by providing education and information to classmates; serve as primary point of connect for Alumni Weekend questions • Help plan special events for classmates • Participate in monthly conference calls and/or webinars with Alumni Relations staff liaisons and fellow class reunion volunteers to discuss progress, new initiatives, deliverables and deadlines • Assist in recruiting and managing additional volunteers • Conduct personal outreach to class members, particularly during challenges and blitzes • Attend Alumni Weekend: May 14 – 17 • Have a great weekend reconnecting and celebrating! alum.lu/comeback give.lu/giveback 4 Top 10 Questions About Alumni Weekend 1.
