METRO COMMITTEE APPROVES $200M IN ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR THE PURPLE LINE SUBWAY EXTENSION WILSHIRE BLVD The long-awaited Metro Purple Line Subway Extension is on pace to be completed by 2024. One of Metro’s priority projects, the Purple Line Extension is a critically 3 MIN. WALK (0.10 MI) important rail project that will provide a high-capacity, high-speed and, dependable TO METRO STATION alternative for commuters to travel between downtown Los Angeles, the Miracle GAYLEY AVE Mile, Beverly Hills and Westwood. The new Purple line will add seven new stops and increase the current railway by nine miles. Recently, the Metro Board Construction Committee approved a budget increase of $200 million for construction of the Westside Purple Line Extension Section 1 (WPLE1). The seven percent increase takes the project budget from $2.8 billion to $3.0 billion. The ten-year project (beginning in 2014) is estimated to be 63% complete, and construction has continued as a critical project throughout the pandemic, benefiting from far lower traffic counts. 14 UCLA - Ongoing Student 1 SOUTHWEST CAMPUS APARTMENTS The Southwest Campus Apartments Project is the largest of the ongoing student housing development initiatives, consisting of three 8-10 story buildings totaling Housing Development Projects up to 591,100 GSF. Located on the existing Warren Hall and Hillblom Center site in the Southwest campus, the project will feature roughly 321 graduate quarters and 1,958 upper division undergraduate quarters. COUNTRY CLUB 2 THE 10995 LE CONTE AVENUE APARTMENTS In 2018, UCLA began construction on one of the most anticipated undergraduate SUNSET BLVD housing projects in their current pipeline. Originally an 8-story office building 3 constructed in the 1970s, the 10995 Le Conte Avenue Apartments will feature 17 stories and over 300,000 GSF (278,356 GSF of residential space and 12,911 GSF CAMPUS of lobby and common area space). The new development on the northwest corner of Gayley and Le Conte Avenue will supply upper division undergraduate students with a new, modern housing option with over 1,100 beds. Scheduled completion 2 for the site is mid-to-late 2021. 4 3 LOT 15 RESIDENCE HALL 1 The Lot 15 Residence Hall development will feature two, 8-story mid-rise buildings OFFICE encompassing over 340,000 GSF (311,700 GSF of residential space and 31,900 OFFICE GSF of common space). The residence hall will provide 1,781 beds of on-campus housing for first and second-year undergraduate students, as well as common space amenities. The construction is set to complete in late 2021. WEYBURN AVE 4 MARGAN APARTMENTS (REDEVELOPMENT) The Margan Apartments, a 7-story, 39-unit apartment building on Levering Avenue, GAYLEY AVE was rebuilt from 2017 to 2019 to include 42 units and up to 10 stories – nearly three VETERAN AVE times the space of the previous apartment complex. UCLA paid nearly $30 million for the Margan Apartment expansion, increasing the amount of beds from 75 to 216. Originally built in 1965, Margan Apartments underwent renovations on kitchens and bathrooms in 2004. This much-needed capital investment in 2017 came after university planners became vocal about their intentions to increase enrollment.
