Multicultural Shop Call-out I am now working at Dumfries & Galloway Multicultural Centre and, after witnessing the success of our Dalry Community Shop, I thought a similar community shop within the Multcultural Centre would be a good idea. The aim is to raise money and to aid the empowerment of members through improving their conversational English, promoting confidence, providing work experience and reducing social isolation. Most importantly, we want to create an atmosphere of happiness and fun. The shop will also stock Fairtrade goods and crafts and artwork by members, and welcome packs for people arriving from overseas to the region. I am looking for donations of any kind - clothes, books, jewellery, pictures, general bric-a-brac, etc, as well as plant pots and plants to brighten up the front of the Centre. I also need volunteers to help run the shop, so if you know of anyone, send them my way. And next time you’re in Dumfries, come in and see me! The Centre is the Georgian sandstone building with stone steps and two pillars outside at the back of Marks & Spencers (Old Assembly Close, just off Irish Street). Many thanks, Gill Stanyard
