Evening Performances, loads of bling and razzmatazz .... everything an end of season Championship should have! This year’s show will be held at Highfield @ Howe, near Ladybank, Fife on 12/13 October 2019 This Show is a qualifier and every horse & pony placed 1st and 2nd in all In Hand, Ridden Showing classes (not fun classes) & Working Hunter/Pony classes will qualify to compete in any appropriate class at the Finals. Qualification will be from placings, no qualification cards will be awarded in the ring, and no qualification can go down the line. Qualification is for the Horse & Pony except for Adult/Young Handler classes, where the Handler qualifies. All qualified horses and ponies will be listed on the Caledonian Showing Show’s website www.caledonianchampionships.webs.com where you will also find a regularly updated list of qualifying shows and a wealth of other information. Botanica / BHS Scotland – Working Hunter Series 2019 The course: At least 8 and not more than 12 fences, with changes of direction, must be set in a ring large enough to permit jumping fluently at a fair hunting pace. Fences should be rustic or as natural as possible, not easily dislodged, of solid appearance, well filled and with shrubs as wings. Maximum height 3ft 6ins (1.05m), maximum spread 3ft 9ins (1.12m), except open ditch and water. The course should be set at, or near, maximum unless the judge considers that the ground makes this unsafe. Normally at least one upright and one spread must be at maximum. Qualification: The first THREE qualify for the final, even if they did not jump clear. If one of the first three has already qualified the qualifying card can be passed down to fourth place provided the 4th placed rider jumped clear. Only fully qualified combinations holding a Signed Qualifying Card for the current year may enter. Blair Castle Working Hunter Pony Championships Class numbers 85-87 are qualifiers. Ponies placed first to fourth in each class will qualify for the Championships held at Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Country Fair on Thursday 22nd August 2019. Qualification may go down to sixth place if higher placed ponies have previously qualified. CHAPS (UK) This show is affiliated to the Coloured Horse & Pony Society (UK). Affiliation No. 19070. Both owner and the rider/exhibitor need not be a member of CHAPS (UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with CHAPS (UK) to compete. However, in order to Qualify both Owner and Rider/Exhibitor need to be a current showing member and present their valid Qualifier card IN THE RING for signing by the judge. The CHAPS (UK) Championship Show will be held on 28th – 31st August 2019. Members to apply in writing to CHAPS (UK) for appropriate qualifier card. The following classes (23-27) are CHAPS (UK) Qualifiers. For full rulings and information on competition/qualification, please refer to the CHAPS (UK) Members’ Handbook; or visitwww.

SATURDAY, 18 APRIL 2020 LEVY, RACING DUNLOP REMEMBERED IN REGALLY BRED COLT By Emma Berry FOUNDATION AGREE ON Naming a horse in someone's memory can be a risky strategy but, for Juddmonte, naming a Galileo (Ire) colt after their late SUPPORT PACKAGE American trainer Bobby Frankel was certainly no drawback. Since the outstanding Frankel (GB) retired to stud, a number of his offspring have also been named after trainers of note. Atty Persse (Ire) took the name of the trainer of The Tetrarch (Ire) and became Frankel's first Royal Ascot winner in 2017. He was wearing the Godolphin silks by that time but he raced initially for his breeder, Bjorn Nielsen, whose love of racing history, and particularly the Derby, doubtless led to him naming another Frankel colt Ginistrelli (Ire). Edoardo Ginistrelli ranks alongside Arthur Budgett as one of only a few people to have bred, owned and trained a Derby winner. Ginistrelli's story is all the more unusual for the fact that his Derby winner was a filly, Signorinetta (GB), who followed up her 100/1 victory in 1908 by winning the Oaks just two days later. Cont. p2 The relief fund will benefit a wide range of British racing's workforce | Emma Berry The Horserace Betting Levy Board (HBLB) and the Racing Foundation have announced an immediate ,22-million hardship funding package to support the British racing industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. The two organisations have combined with other racing bodies to identify the areas within the sport most in need of emergency support.

EXHIBITION OF SCULPTURE ^ 76_" *" "* ? OF BRITISH CHAMPION ANIMALS BY HERBERT HASELTINE (Held under the auspices of The Field) Wednesday, July 8th to Friday, July 31st, 1925 KNOEDLER'S GALLERY, 15 OLD BOND STREET, W.i SHIRE STALLION: FIELD MARSHAL V Preface The following is an extract translated from the Preface written by M. Georges Be'nedit, of the Academie Fran false, for the Catalogue of the Exhibition of Sculpture by Herbert Haseltine recently held in Paris. "HASELTINE, in Aime Morot's Studio, was quick to profit by his master's indications of the proper spirit in which to approach the Study of animal life. None amongSt those acquainted with Parisian art circles before the war can fail to have realized the feeling of the celebrated painter of 'The Charge at Rezonville,' for the lion and the leopard and Aime Morot's menagerie has since acquired an almost legendary reputation. His teaching, his admirable draughts manship, informed by his father-in-law Gerome's predilection for sculpture, was destined to bear fruit in the present instance; Plaseltine resigned the brush in favour of the chisel and addressed himself to the portrayal of animals. Fortunately for him, he has been able to profit by what is moSt essential to works of art in their relation to history, namely, their utilization for the purpose of practical record. JuSt as the paSt civilizations of Greece and of the EaSt used the sculptor's chisel as the helpmate of the chronicler's pen to perpetuate the glory of men as well as of gods, the en couragement given in England to the breeding of horses and Stock of all kinds has resulted in the distribution of honours to animals comparable to those offered by the Greeks to the viftors in their games, the 'Statuae iconicae,' alluded to in Pliny's Natural History.
