WASIAL MEMON Mr. M.Wasial Memon a very senior professional banker with more than 35 years- of banking experience was born on December 01 , 1930 at Matiari, a small town near Hyderabad Sindh. Having acquired graduation in Commerce from Karachi University; he earned DAIBP, Fellowship of The Economic Development Institute of world Bank, washington DC-usA and fellowship of Instifute ofBankers Pakistan. He served as the Head of various development financial institutions of Pakistan such as Chairman/Managing Director of I.D.B.P, ICP, PICIC and NDFC, After retirement from NDFC he joined Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah. He also represented Government of Pakistan as a Leader of Government delegation for negotiating Credit lines from International Lending Agencies such as World Bank, Asian Development Bank, IDB Jeddah and other leading financial originations. Mr. Memon was keenly associated with various social organizati.ons and put his best efforts for the uplift of the under privilege memon and other communities, he was the Founder Member/Secretary of United Memon Jamat of Pakistan and actively participated in up bringing of UMJP along with other founders like late Ahmed Dawood, Late Justice Abdul Hafeez Memon andLate G.D Memon. He breathed his last in head offtce of Islamic Development Bank Jeddah on 25th Novemb er 1991 and after Namaz-e- Janazain Khana-e-Kabba he was buried at Jannatul Moalla , Makkah. I am pleased to present a brief report of UMJP Sub - C ommitte es and affi liated Jamats as under: Tthe Annual General Body Meeting for the year 2013 was held in accordance with the Article 29 of the Memorandum & Articles of Association on Sunday, 20'n April 20t4 at Aisha Bawany Academy, Karachi. The Office Bearers, Members of the Managing Committee, Office Bearers of affrliated Jamats and well wishers have attended. A comprehensive Activity Report of UMJP for the year 2013 was presented by the Honorary Secretary General. The Audited Accounts for the year ended June 30, 2013 were approved and M/s. MunafYusuf & Company was reappointed for the audit for the financial y ear 20 13 -201 4 . The Office Bearers of IIMJP and Affiliated Jamats highlighted the community issues on the occasion. The lunch was served to the participants. ".:ns=3:==n#dwrtrg@6r w EKTA N€WSLETTER Regular Scholarships, Teachers' Stipend and financial assistance for higher education continue to occupy pivotal role in the programmes of the UMJP. UMJP is keen to provide education assistance to deserving students. Teachers' stipends are being provided regularly on quarterly basis to United Memon Jamat, Taluka Bhiria, Dist. Naushehro Feroze and to Village Muhammad Sadiq Memon, Tando Allahyar in advance. Scholarships Scholarship applications have been received and approved to many affiliated Jamats during the last quarter while remaining afflrliated Jamats are expectedto finalizethet applications shortly. i Also direct financial assistance is being provided to deserving students ) of different schools and universities so that they may continue their studies. United Memon lamat, Gambat and Shikarpur applied for installation of drinking water hand pumps in surrounding villages. The United Memon Jamat of Pakistan considered the same and released the cost of hand pumps to the respective Jamats. The Jamats have installed drinking water hand pumps in the designated areas. ) ) A request was received from Baby Bareera Fatima D/o. Mr. Farhan Hussain Memon resident of Hala through Mr. Allah Bachanyo Memon, General Secretary United Memon lamat, Hala for financial assistance. The aforesaid patient is suffering from blood cancer. The child was under treatment at National Institute of Blood Diseases Hospital, Karachi. UMJP promptly responded and helped the patient. Also medicines have been provided to Jamia Nadwat-ul-Ilm to be used in their ShifaKhana. The UMJ recorded gratitude forMr. AzizMemon (King Group) forhis assistance and help in this regard. The aforesaid items have been distributed to the charity hospitals free of cost with the assurance that these items should be provided to the poor and underprivileged patients free ofcost: United Memon Jamat - Shahdadpur Annual General Body Meeting An Annual General Body Meeting of uMJ, Shahdadpur was held on 4'n July 2014 under the chairmanship of Mr. Khadim Hussain, president of UMj, Shahdadpur. A large number of Memon Community persons participated. Mr. Akhtar Ali Memon welcomed all the participants. The participants of the Ceremony expressed their views and appreciated the social services provided by the UMJ, Shahadadpur. Mr. Khadim Hussain Memon thanked all the pafticipants and announced Rs.7,000/- to a poor and sick memon of the area. He also announced distribution of school bags for the poor and deserving students. Sixty (60) packets of monthly eatables, Fifty (50) new suits for Eid and cash to Forty (40) families were distributed. Well known personalities of Shahdadpur attended the" programme and expressed their appreciation for holding such programme. ruW sF@ m =:=''4 .! /$ g ry' ffier Welfare Programme United Memon Jamat Matiari organized Hepatitis screening and Vaccination camp at village Ghulam Hyder Joya, where 133 male and 139 female were screened and vaccinated and out ofthem 28 male and 15 female were diagnosed hepatitis. A11 the positive cases were forwarded and under keatment at Government Hospital Matiari Ramadan teaches us a lesson of sacrifice and affection. There is no limit to help those who are deprived of the basic necessities of life. With the courtesy of United Memon Jamat of Pakistan a donation of Rs.50,000/- was received through Haji Mohammad Hanif Janoo. With grace ofAllahAlmighry UnitedMemon Jamat, Matiari distributed ration bags among needy families of district Matiari; around 45 families were benehted with the rations bags. UMJ Thatta has helped to 10 needy families by setting up self employment scheme and provided Sewing Machines to needy women with efforts of Mr Shoaib Habib Memon District President UMJThatta. UMJ Thatta President and UMJ District Coordinator Mr. Shoaib Habib Memon activated UMJ Branches in Darro and Chohar Jamali.
