(Saturday, June 30, 2012) – Sam Hornish Jr. continued his string of rock-solid finishes in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. He finished sixth in Friday night’s Feed the Children 300 at Kentucky Speedway. The driver of the No. 12 Wurth Dodge Challenger posted his eighth top-10 finish and third consecutive. He remains fourth in the series championship standings, 33 points behind leader Austin Dillon. “That’s the thing that you’ve got to do; you’ve got to be consistent,” Hornish said. “We need to keep being smart and doing the things that we’re doing. We’re chipping away at it. We’d love to do it all in about two races and be leading the points but it’s not going to happen that way. We just need to be smart about what we do.” Brad Keselowski overcame the loss of track position early in the race to finish seventh, his eighth top-10 finish in 11 starts this season. Keselowski was running third when he pitted during the first caution of the race on lap 26. The crew had an issue with the right-front during the stop plus receiving a penalty for pitting outside the pit box and a tire violation. Keselowski restarted 29th but was able to work his way back onto the top five by lap 130.

Contact: Adam Saal Matthew Simmons Bill Klingbeil SRT Motorsports - Nationwide Race Recap - Road America Trouble-free Day Gives Hornish Fifth Place Finish at Road America Villeneuve Leads Early, Ends Up Sixth at America’s ‘National Park of Speed’ June 22, 2012, Elkhart Lake, Wisc. - Sam Hornish Jr. stayed out of trouble and kept all four wheels on the road – literally – to score a fifth-place finish in the Sargento 200 at Road America Saturday afternoon. Hornish grabbed his third top five of the season and chopped 11 points off Elliott Sadler’s lead in the Nationwide Series championship standings. He now trails Sadler by 34 points entering next week’s event at Kentucky Speedway. Hornish led once in the race for three laps. The driver of the No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Dodge said he had a simple strategy entering the weekend’s event at the 4.048-mile road course, a track known for chaotic racing. “We were just trying to be smart,” Hornish said. “My goal for the weekend was to make sure that we weren’t sitting in any sand traps. I’m really happy about that and to be able to pass some really good road racers there towards the end, I feel like it was pretty good. There were some guys running into each other on the last lap and I did everything I could do to try to stay out of that.” The strategy worked, despite the fact Hornish was involved in a rambunctious five-car battle for fourth-place in the closing laps featuring Max Papis, Danica Patrick, Brian Scott and his Penske Racing teammate for the weekend, Jacques Villeneuve.

It was during this time Scott realized that in order to reach his career goals, he would need to return to school and complete his engineering degree. “Tire changing is what got me in the door at the first team I worked with,” Scott said. “I was eager to be involved in the setup part of the equation and help make decisions.

casestudy “Avery Dennison products work well and their team is committed to quality,” says Nick Woodward, graphics manager at RCR Graphics Center. NASCAR Prime Time Richard Childress Racing has three NASCAR Nationwide Series cars, three Sprint Cup Series cars, three NASCAR Camping World Truck Series on a full schedule in 2012. With cars and sponsors for nine teams, keeping an outside graphics provider up to date with color schemes and sponsor logos proved difficult. On top of all the teams’ race cars, each has a show car that goes on tour for corporate partners and is on display at conventions, store openings, car shows and more. To meet the team’s growing graphics demands, the leadership decided to bring the printing and installation in-house in 2011 and turned to Avery Dennison for digital media and overlaminates. Graphics Partner Nick Woodward is the graphics manager at the RCR Graphics Center. He and Kenneth Ward, the creative manager, are responsible for keeping all the cars in the right colors and with the right sponsor logos. (Saturday, May 5, 2012) – It’s Talladega. It’s expected. It happened to the Dodge teams Saturday in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at the 2.66-mile, high-banked track. Brad Keselowski saw his chances of winning the race end when he was involved in a 10-car mishap during the first attempt at a green-white-checkered finish. A tire going flat on the final lap was the culprit for Sam Hornish Jr. Hornish was running fourth in the No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Dodge Challenger for the final restart. In the shuffle for position, contact with another car apparently cut the right front tire. “It wasn’t the worst day ever, but not what we wanted,” he said. “I got hit in the rear and got into the 87 (Joe Nemechek) on the restart. It cut the right front tire; it didn’t cut it down, but it started going flat. Coming off four, the tire went flat. The No. 2 (Elliott Sadler) was pushing me, which I appreciate, but at that time I didn’t need it. I was trying to get out from in front of him but the car wouldn’t turn.” Hornish finished 12th but as he slowed after taking the checkered flag, he was hit from behind by Danica Patrick and sent into the outside wall.
