A mysterious gift is discovered in the garage on Nicholas's birthday. The friends surprise Matthew before his move. The pupils prepare a performance of Little Thumb and Puss in Boots for their families. Nicholas introduces his friends to chess, using his dad's prized set. The Avengers Club wants Cuthbert to pay for telling on Geoffrey. Nicholas makes good use of the gift he received from his grandmother, a watch. Grandmother has had to move into Nicholas's house, much to his dad's annoyance. Nicholas chooses something special as a reward for his good grades. A museum visit becomes a disaster in the porcelain room. Nicholas and Geoffrey planned to fight, and though they're not interested now, the crowd is. Asked by the teacher to fetch chalk from Old Spuds, Geoffrey steals one from the superintendent. The school is preparing for a special former pupil. The teacher asks the pupils to bring in an object that is dear to them. Nicholas and Louise play camping in an abandoned car in the vacant lot. The children spy on Mr. Goodman with binoculars to identify his Le Petit Nicolas lover. Rufus's dad, a policeman, comes to teach the children about road safety. The Le Petit Nicolas is absent, so the children get to know her substitute. Max has just received a magic box and wants to impress his friends.
