Production Notes Release Date: 16 September, 2010 Rating: M Running Time: 92 min Olive Penderghast (EMMA STONE) was a typical American high school girl, until she decided to be, well, A-typical. I mean, what’s your average, everyday girl to do when her popular, detail- seeking best friend Rhiannon (ALY MICHALKA) wants the 411 on Olive’s weekend, and the boring reality is nothing to brag about? Can’t a non-entity, a perceived zero, an anonymous girl like Olive tell a little white lie if it gives her just a tiny taste of that magical prize sought by every teenager: popularity? Some status updates, however, just cannot be contained, especially when Marianne (AMANDA BYNES), Ojai High School’s very own Tammy Faye Bakker, overhears Olive’s words. Soon, rumors of Olive’s promiscuity are being greatly exaggerated. Within minutes, the student body is all a-twitter, linked-in and face-booked over Olive’s supposed indiscretions. While it’s not necessarily the kind of notoriety Olive was looking for, becoming the center of attention proves to be tantalizingly addictive, so much so that Olive decides not to deny the rumors. In fact, she embraces them, further playing the part by sporting a sexy new look and biting new attitude. After all, she knows the real truth, and her non-judgmental parents (STANLEY TUCCI, PATRICIA CLARKSON) trust her. So she’s not really hurting anyone, is she? Emma Stone Did This When She Lived in Phoenix Written by Sarah Love Come one, Come all to Valley Youth Theatre The Valley Youth Theatre is an incredible place where young people can learn and grow as creators and performance actors. The Theatre was established in 1989 to create a unique opportunity with children to participate in orchestra, technicians, and actors. Valley Youth Theatre is a world-class, nationally recognized non-profit theatre which targets young people from the ages of 3 to 19. The theatre wants to inspire young people to be the best that they can be. VYT is an award-winning theatre, and was recently selected as "Best of Arizona Children’s Performing Arts" and received the 2008 Governor’s Arts Award for Arts in Education. The Theatre offers a variety of classes for young children and young adults to take like Introduction to Improv, Musical Theatre, Acting Technique, Acting OUT. These classes run once a week for about 8 weeks. There are also weekend classes like Play Pretend and Musical Theatre. Many great actors have attended this program, like American Idol, Jordan Sparks and Disney Channel’s Chelsea Kane, and Broadway Star, Max Crumm. However, their must successful student is Hollywood Star Emma Stone, who just stared in the hit movie The Help. Emma’s part show credits with VYT include Otter in The Wind in the Willows (ariZoni Nomination and Drama Beat Award), two seasons as Eeyore in A Winnie-the-Pooh Christmas Tail (ariZoni Nomination), Old Queen Maude in The Princess and the Pea (ariZoni Award), Portia in Cinderella (ariZoni Award, Maxie Honorable Mention), and ensemble roles in both productions of The Wiz. -

You see, the American Idol winner was in Phoenix for a Valley Youth Theatre alumni concert, at Symphony Hall. Just prior to the show, she joined a group of VYT supporters for a VIP meet and greet. Rather than a pair of stylish high heels to adorn her lovely evening dress, Jordin was donning flip flops. While she might start a new fashion statement, it wasn’t her intention. In the midst of her busy schedule of flying from Los Angeles, to London, to Washington D.C. and back to Phoenix in one week, she had simply forgotten her shoes. And when she took to the stage - she performed barefoot. Jordin, pictured above in her flip flops with VYT’s Producing Artistic Director Bobb Cooper and wife Karol, was one of the stars who turned out for VYT’s amazing fundraiser. The event “If you believe in yourself .. your dreams can come true “ celebrated VYT’s 20th anniversary and its place on the show biz map. The celebration brought together Jordin Sparks and three other actors who, in 2003, with big dreams of becoming stars, shared the stage in VYT’s production of The Wiz. -
