2017 - Bluefield: Laws made his pro debut on June 26th, starting vs. Burlington and tossing a scoreless inning. It was one of five scoreless appearances out of six games for the big right-hander at Bluefield, with his only run allowed coming in two innings at Elizabethton on July 21st. He excelled otherwise, firing exactly two innings in his final six outings and totaling 11 strikeouts next to just one walk in 11 combined innings before getting called up to the Northwest League.

2017 - Vancouver: Promoted to Short-Season A on August 3rd, he debuted with a scoreless inning in a start at Hillsboro. There was time left for two more appearances before the season ended: 8/6 at Hills- boro, allowing two runs (one earned) in two innings with three strikeouts, and 9/3 at Tri-City, a scoreless inning.
