McAdam – President & CEO, Foodshare Participating representatives of the food industry including: Bakery On Main, Bimbo Bakeries, Bozzuto's, Burris Logistics, C&S Wholesale, Domino's Pizza, The Farmer's Cow, Freshpoint, Frito Lay, Geissler's, Guida Dairy, HPC Foodservice, M&M Produce, Ocean State Job Lot, Panera Bread, Pepsi Beverages Co., Price Chopper, Price Rite, Sam's Club, Sardilli's Produce, ShopRite, Stop & Shop, Thurston Foods, Sysco, and Walmart. What: Following a recognition breakfast at the Sheraton in Rocky Hill, 25 trucks have already signed up to make the 21 mile trek from Rocky Hill to Foodshare's distribution center in Bloomfield demonstrating their commitment to fighting hunger in greater Hartford. This Convoy of trucks serves as a visual reminder to all of the challenges faced by 128,000 of our hungry neighbors every single day! Eighty percent of the food we distribute comes directly from our food industry partners - more than 21 million dollars in- kind each year! As a result, we are able to provide 3 meals for every $1 received, ensuring that all of our hungry neighbors 2013 Food Industry Convoy of Caring have better access to the resources they need most. Where: Sheraton Hotel in Rocky Hill, CT (100 Capital Blvd.) When: Tuesday, September 30, 2014: 4:30-7:00 AM – Media interviews on site 7:00 – 8:00 AM – Photo Op of participating trucks, drivers & Foodshare reps 8:00-9:00 AM – Recognition Breakfast 8:45 AM - Convoy departs Rocky Hill 9:30-10:30 AM - Photo Op at Foodshare unloading trucks About Foodshare Foodshare is the heart of greater Hartford’s fight against hunger, bringing together individuals and organizations to create effective solutions to end hunger in all 42 towns of Hartford and Tolland counties. Working closely with other local partners – individuals, businesses, schools, faith groups and government agencies – Foodshare seeks to engage the greater Hartford community for the purpose of distributing food and increasing self-sufficiency. .
